cfomac Posted April 13, 2006 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2006 Help! We're booked on the Liberty for June and have a great thread going on the Roll Call. We are trying to set up a Meet and Greet for one of the beginning days of our cruise and have contacted the Liberty liaison at Carnival. She is telling me she can't assist me since I booked thru a travel agent (and the other 70 folks used other Travel Agents). My travel agent said she can't help since she didn't book at of us. When we have done this on NCL it was no problem. They set a room aside (a lounge that was closed during those hours) and they provided soft drinks and cookies. It was a breeze. Not sure what the problem is with Carnival. Any helpful hints out there? Thanks
GoinCruisin Posted April 13, 2006 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2006 If you are wanting to reserve a room for your group, there is a minimum as to the amount you have to spend, generally a "per person" charge. If you want to just meet in a lounge somewhere, and others might be there, no problem, just pick a lounge... Now, you have to deal with whoever you booked your group with. You got a group rate from SOMEONE... if it was Carnival groups, you deal with them... if your TA booked the majority of your cabins, you would deal with them. Contact the groups dept at Carnival and see if they can suggest something. I'm wanting to say it was only like $10pp for an hour?? BUT, if you didn't book a GROUP, I don't think there is anything you can do... Carnival doesn't organize M&M's for CC... you have to plan it yourself. They might still do the $10pp thing, but I really think that is just for groups (that booked as a group)
hstrybuf Posted April 13, 2006 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2006 In the past, our roll call groups on Carnival have arranged a time and place to meet, sometimes two times, same place, different days.

richfret Posted April 13, 2006 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2006 On the 3/18 Liberty Cruise, we had a Roll Call group of 92 cruisers who had been communicating for months. We also tried to get a special location but my impression is that Carnival does not want to get involved if they can help it. We ended up meeting on the Lido Deck Aft near where the Pizza is served. We met at 3 pm on arrival day, took time off for the boat drill and them continued our meeting until the Early Supper Call. It was great to meet every one personally and we kept running into each other all through the cruise. We also established a E-mail circuit and exchanged pictures through it. VentureMan_2000 Posted April 13, 2006 #6 Share Posted April 13, 2006 Has anyone considered the obvious... How about taking over a bar...? Plan on meeting in a bar and hangoing out for an hour... everyone can purchase there own drinks... no hassle... no extra costs...:D
cfomac Posted April 13, 2006 Author #7 Share Posted April 13, 2006 Wow! Thanks for the input. We are going to plan on meeting post muster drill. Many of us have had luck with other lines that are willing to open up an unused area just for us for a "private party" What a great PR opportunity it would be for Carnival. Think their missing the boat...pardon the pun
ronrythm Posted April 13, 2006 #8 Share Posted April 13, 2006 Once you are onboard, talk to the CD and they will normally set up a space for you if you want to do a meeting later in the week. Some of them will even put it in the Capers. Just don't call it a "Meet & Mingle" as that is reserved for CC groups on RCI & Celebrity by CC's contract. Most CDs are happy to let you have a room when you say you have xx amount of people. Enjoy Ron
GoinCruisin Posted April 13, 2006 #9 Share Posted April 13, 2006 Wow! Thanks for the input. We are going to plan on meeting post muster drill. Many of us have had luck with other lines that are willing to open up an unused area just for us for a "private party" What a great PR opportunity it would be for Carnival. Think their missing the boat...pardon the pun Carnival doesn't have much unused space... I guess unlike some of the other lines, they utilize their space so everyone can have FUN ;):D LOL!!! Seriously, there really isn't alot of unused space... the wedding parties and large "official" groups take alot of that space... so just opening up an area, at no charge, for an unorganized group, really isn't in their best interest. Carnival understands how these roll calls go... you may have 200 people on a roll call, and maybe 80 will show up, maybe 10, maybe 150... but believe me, everyone who SAYS they are going to show, won't... it just won't happen, it never does... I agree with VM, just take over a bar. That's what we always do :D Works out just fine! You might want to try the Casino Bar... it's usually quiet the first afternoon. I would stay away from the outdoor bars, they are going to get a little more crowded and it could cause trouble. Also, set up a couple of meeting times... the ones on the very first day, generally have low turnout... meeting the first morning at sea tends to attract more people. Good luck and have fun!!!! LHP Posted April 13, 2006 #10 Share Posted April 13, 2006 On the Pride, we tried to have an "informal" meet and greet by me swinging the "Terrible Towel" in the Atrium for an hour. (From 2:30 to 3:30) It wasn't very successful, but we did meet a couple of folks that we ended up visiting with during the week. Just an idea that perhaps you will have better luck at than we did.
