Capri/sorrento from Naples

Recommended Posts

We've done both the train and hydrofoil to Sorrento and the hydrofoil is way better, a fast and pretty ride. You can sit on top in the breeze or below in the cabin, size of a large airplane cabin. The train is a $10 cab to get there each way, and no views, just tunnels and back yards. There are several companies running hydrofoils (jet boats), here's the site listing them, and for departure times click on the Timetable button, insert Naples and Sorrento, then reverse to return:

They leave Naples from the Molo Beverello dock right beside where the cruise ships dock. 12-14 euros.

If you haven't done Pompeii or Herculaneum by all means take the train and then take it on to Sorrento. You can take the hydo foil back to Napoli. Please note buy your ticket to Sorrento at Pompeii or Herculaneum and you will have free public transporation in Sorrento which is certainly worth it since its a long way up and down from the pier. Please note and not to be alarmed to give your self plenty of time to get back to Napoli. The hydrofoil were were originally on lost power and we almost didn't make it back to port! We did catch another but there wasn't much time left!

Question... I have looked up the link for the hydro-foil and got all the times (thank you very much for posting that) but does anyone know if there is anyway to go straight back to Naples after Sorrento? We would like to go from Naples to Capri and then to Sorrento and then back to Naples. Is this possible?

Thank you so much for the help.

When you dock in Naples you can walk to the ferries to go to Capri . When you return you can go to Sorrento . I am not sure whether you can take a ferry from Capri to Sorrento. Maybe someone elso would know the answer to that one .
