Frogs Posted December 14, 2006 #151 Share Posted December 14, 2006 I also wonder if there are enough 'lurkers' here that could have read this thread and picked up the treasure. Too bad! We will have our treasure to leave when we get there next Friday! We will report as soon as we can! Blessings!

djallar Posted December 14, 2006 #153 Share Posted December 14, 2006 Four particpants in this thread have been there since we were and, except for Ziggy, who didn't even get a chance to go ashore, none have reported back. :( Thanks, Lon for continuing the treasure hunt! I should have said five...not including Ziggy & Lon...
lggfly Posted December 14, 2006 #154 Share Posted December 14, 2006 Lon, you buried your treasure exactly where we buried ours. If it was there, you wouldn't have had any problems finding it. Thanks. I suspect someone got to it first, because I dug right up against the corner post and went fairly deep. Nothing there. When I say the back left side, I am talking left as you are facing the cabana (with your back to the sea). Oh well, hopefully the next person finds our treasure. SarahQ Posted December 19, 2006 Author #155 Share Posted December 19, 2006 Hey all, We were at HMC on Dec 16 and dug around the back 40 of the cabana and came up empty...although we may have missed a spot or two. We actually brought our little treasure and ended up forgetting it onboard - doh!!! My DH said he would go back and fetch it but the 'Drunken Whale' did its job and none of us were in any shape to go back and get it ;) So, in theory, lggfly's treasure may still be there and we just missed it! Hopefully it'll get found :) Or, we aren't being secretive enough and our treasures are being pinched by pirates ;)
duckman715 Posted December 20, 2006 #156 Share Posted December 20, 2006 We will be there on 1/5 with treasure in tow. So sorry to learn that there really may be pirates in those waters who have no qualms about taking another's stash.

My treasure was buried almost right up against the left (as you are facing the cabana) corner (just behind). It wasn't buried that deep, so if you dug there, you'd find it. Too bad. We are a martini family, so we left a small bottle of Belvidere Vodka and 2 plastic martini glasses. Hope someone is enjoying it! HeatherInFlorida Posted December 22, 2006 #158 Share Posted December 22, 2006 We didn't get to actually walk by the turquoise cabana (like I promised) when we were there on December 11th, but I did zoom in for a picture as best I could! Didn't look to me like anyone was using it that day. We were there alone on the Prinsendam (less than 800 passengers) and the Tour Desk told us only 5 were rented! They didn't even set up chaises that far down the beach. I think it's really sad if people lurk on this thread and take advantage of the good nature of a few people trying to create a chain of gifts. Doesn't say anything good ... that's for sure! Maybe if you keep your giveaways to something less inviting ... like a "message in a bottle":D

CruisinCanucks Posted January 7, 2007 #165 Share Posted January 7, 2007 Hello Frogs: Should have let you know a long time ago that CruisinCanucks will not be at the Turquoise cabana on Feb.2 :( :( because HAL in its infinite wisdom decided that Grand Turk would provide a much better definition of "paradise" than HMC:rolleyes:  ....boohoo,boohoo on Feb 3 instead. I'm still trying to recover!!!!!!! Be rest assured, however, I and my family will toast all of you lucky HMC cabana dwellers with G & T's (limes included) as we sail by that little piece of paradise on Feb 2. As Arnold once said....."I'll be back"....just don't when but sooner than later. Have fun and happy diggin Brad
twinkletoes4445 Posted January 7, 2007 #166 Share Posted January 7, 2007 CruisinCanucks.... How did you find this info out about visiting HMC on a different day? We're on the Zuiderdam, and are scheduled to be there on Friday, the 9th. I hope since this is the week after you sail, they don't change our day. However, I am giving some thought to moving to another cabana, one that is a bit down the beach (and away from the crowds). If I do this, I'll make sure and let Ziggy know so she can take me off the list.
CruisinCanucks Posted January 8, 2007 #167 Share Posted January 8, 2007 Hello Twinkletoes: We booked this cruise just under a year ago because it stopped at HMC on the way to San Diego thru the Panama Canal...have previously been to HMC last Feb 2006 and loved those cabanas and service and the beach and the water, well you get the picture...so were thrilled that we would be able to go back again so soon....we had the yellow cabana...way down the beach away from action. although we were the only ship there Westerdam. So we booked the Turquoise cabana based on this thread for Feb 2 and began the long countdown to Feb 2007. Anyway, sometime in the summer of 2006 I noticed on the HAL website that the HMC date had been removed and replaced with Grand Turk....called my TA to confirm and yes HAL had changed the itinerary and offered no explanation as to why......but needless to say we were very, very disappointed that we would NOT be going to HMC this time around. So no buried treasure for us but to all the rest of you bounty hunters have a great time on that little piece of paradise Happy diggin and wiggle your toes in that cake flour sand Twinkletoes:) Have a great time... and smooth sailing!!! shonuf Posted January 22, 2007 #168 Share Posted January 22, 2007 Well, you might know after planning this trip almost a year in advance, booking the famed Turquoise Cabana just about the day they released them and springing for the butler package, I was sick as a dog and didn't even set foot on HMC. But the good news is that our friends WERE able to go over, armed with a bottle of wine that they had bottled and a poem warning of serious consequences if you should take the booty without leaving something in return. When they arrived at the cabana, first thing they started looking for the booty. They found it!!!! Some small bottles of rum and a bottle of bourbon. Who left that for us? When my friend started trying to bury her loot, the butler volunteered to do it for her. I've got the photo but it says the file size is too large. Whoever finds ours, please let us know. Shonuff - The treasure was buried by your friendly Virginia pirate - Duckman715 & his hearty band of brigands. The bourbon was a special treasure as it was the "Virginia Gentleman" brand. We were on shore at HMC 1/5/07. So very glad to hear the treasure was found by a member of the crew of "Ye Mystic Order...", especially after all the rumors of pirates making off with what's really ours. Hope the prize was properly divided amongst the crew and enjoyed by all Smooth sailin' to ya lassie Duckman715
Frogs Posted January 22, 2007 #170 Share Posted January 22, 2007 I am so sorry that I haven't posted since we left for our cruise in December. Got back to reality and didn't get back much on Cruise Critic like I did when preparing for the cruise. First - We splurged and added the butler perk as a Christmas gift for my parents. We were disappointed right at the beginning. We were told to wait in our cabin and the butler would pick us up a the cabin. The paper work even said that we MUST wait in the cabin or our service would ultimately delayed at the caban if we didn't wait for them. Well . . . The butler NEVER met us at our cabin therefore we got to the island later than we wanted. We made SEVERAL phone calls to the front desk and no one could help us and knew nothing about what we were talking about. There was NO ONE from the excursion desk on board so no one to help us. Finally our room steward Andre' got someone to come and take us down to the tender only to leave us to our own accord with no instruction - we were supposed to get an escort all the way according to what I had read. When we did get to the island the staff in the information booth weren't interested in helping us with getting to the cabana. They just pointed and were unclear about what we were to be doing. We went on and found the cabana and found our butlers waiting for us there. This was about 10:00 a.m. Honestly - we never inquired with the butler. We were determined to enjoy the rest of the day and let it go. Once we were there we had a WONDERFUL time. It was fun watching people and nice that we didn't have to worry about our space and our stuff if we left the cabana. The food was good but not fabulous - except for the lobster sandwiches - they were fabulous. We has two butlers watching over us. One main butler and another in training. They did get us everything we asked for and were very helpful and delightful. We eventually got one of the last tenders to the ship and blessed to have been able to enjoy the cabana and in the end the butler service. Would I use the butler service again, probably not, but who knows what I would do if given the opportunity again . . . Would I do the cabana again? You bet!!!!! It was the best thing we did besides the Thermal Suite and Hydro Pool week pass on the ship. Now about the 'treasure' . . . we looked and looked for the treasure and found nothing. We didn't leave ours since it appears that they were being picked up by someone else. I am so sorry but we felt that our fun had been taken away and didn't want to contribute to the pirates personal bounty. This was such a great idea and a big disappointment for the four of us. If I think of anything else I will post and if anyone has any questions please ask and I'll do my best to answer. Blessings to all of you! twinkletoes4445 Posted February 11, 2007 #173 Share Posted February 11, 2007 We didn't find shonuf's booty, but we may have missed it. Hubby dug around, but didn't find anything. We left ours...it's buried about where the butler's (in shnouf's picture) left foot is. It's at the side of the post (I think it was the third post) where the cabana begins, and the decking ends. Maybe the next person will find both! :) Who is the next person?
