stewart -carol Posted June 2, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 2, 2006 We are booked on the Millennium's June 19-July 1 cruise Venice to Barcelona. Various postings talk about a shuttle that Celebrity offers between the pier and St. Marks Square for $8 a day per person (was free in past years) but when I called Celebrity to get details, they told me that Celebrity doesn't have such a shuttle and they didn't know what I was referring to!! Can someone clarify if the people at Celebrity don't know what is happening in Venice or if there are shuttles operated by private companies and what the cost is per day or per ride if that is the way people are charged. Otherwise, how do we get to St. Marks from the pier easily??
suzy671 Posted June 2, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 2, 2006 When we were on the Carnival Liberty we took a shuttle bus to the water taxi and then to St. Marks Square, hope this helps.
mongoally Posted June 2, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2006 Just got off of the Millie. They are now charging in 4 ports for what used to be free shuttles. The venice shuttle allows you to go back and forth all day and it is 8 Euro's. We bought the shuttle ticket and also walked to Pizzale Rome and to take the #1 Vaporetti which brings you up the grand canal. It is well worth the additional 5 Euro's. We then went back to the ship with the shuttle and returned to St Marks square after a short rest with food. Be in St Mark's square at night. The crowds will disappear and the orchestra's take over. It is a wonderful time to be in Venice

dege Posted June 5, 2006 #5 Share Posted June 5, 2006 When we were in Venice last week, we used the Alilaguna water bus that leaves from the pier and goes directly to San Marco (St. Marks). The cost is $6E one way or $11E round trip. It leaves the port every half hour at :35 and :05. The first one leaves at 8:35 in the morning and they run all day. Very easy to use. You purchase your ticket at a little ticket kiosk right near where the boat picks you up. People in the terminal can point you to the ticket office.
