SunnieD Posted June 5, 2006 #51 Share Posted June 5, 2006 Hey Radio, your room did not look too bad. Are your parents on CC? Will they be at the M&M Sat. If so what is their username? The Solarium area looked fairly small, is it? Where are all of the people? Is your cruise full? If so that is great news for those who want to enjoy the deck areas. Enjoy your day in Bermuda tomorrow and good luck with the weather! Looks like it has been great so far.
nktwinpeaks Posted June 5, 2006 #52 Share Posted June 5, 2006 what cabin are you in? we are doing our first ever RCCL cruise on Grandeur in July & are wondering how cramped the inside cabins are. thanks for your help.
soccermomkat Posted June 5, 2006 #53 Share Posted June 5, 2006 Hi Radio - hope you are having a great time. Looks like maybe it won't be unbareably hot in Bermuda, so that's good! I'm hoping the sun follows you into port tomorrow. I was talking to a friend that was on the Granduer last year and she RAVED about a Beatles group playing in one of the lounges. They were called Revolution. Any chance they are still performing on board? You and Mrs. Radio need to get into some of those photos! Looks like I'll be dreaming of Granduer again tonight..... catwoman1 Posted June 6, 2006 #54 Share Posted June 6, 2006 Thanks for all the pics! Have you seen what the balcony cabins look like? I was going to splurge and upgrade to the royal suite but just found out they would not accommodate me w/ two rollaway beds. WE had 3 kids (2 boys and 1 girl) and putting my almost 6 foot 16 yrs old w/ my 5foot 9 year old on a sleeper sofa just wont cut it. My 13 year old daughter could be on a rollaway. I just cant figure it out. I guess I should thank RCI for not accommodating me. Sure is saving me some bucks! No to mention no conceriage lounge. Have a great cruise. We are living through your posts and pics!
sun & fun Posted June 6, 2006 #55 Share Posted June 6, 2006 We had a good time. Clo is a hoot! She is so funny. The public rooms are in good shape but I was disappointed in our cabin it was small (we had 4 people) and it needed updating. I always hear how good Royal Caribbean is but I was on CCL (Miracle) and the service, stateroom and food was better on the Miracle. I spoke to someone who was on the Grandeur last year and she said that the food last year was really good. She also thought the food this time was a disappointment. Maybe a different chef? My children had a great time and made many friends (they are IM' ing already). I'd like to try another RC ship next time. I hope there are more ships leaving from Baltimore, it was a breeze getting to and boarding the ship!
TravelinTchr Posted June 6, 2006 #56 Share Posted June 6, 2006 Hello Radio. Thanks so much for sharing your pics and updates!! They are FANTASTIC, and just get me even more excited for our cruise on the Grandeur next month to the W. Carribean!! :D I hope you and Mrs. Radio and your folks have a great trip! Thanks again for posting your updates! We look forward to seeing them. Take care! Melinda
SunnieD Posted June 6, 2006 #57 Share Posted June 6, 2006 Grandeur may not be the best example of RCI ships. When I sailed the Serenade, I could not find a thing to complain about. I may have started out a little higher than I am going on this time, but hey I don't have to fly anywhere and it is a 9 day cruise. I will take that over a week at the beach any day, no matter how dated the stateroom.:D I can't wait to get on board and try her for myself. P&DinDE2 Posted June 6, 2006 #58 Share Posted June 6, 2006 Sailing on here with Radio's LIVE is the next best thing to actulally being there Bythe time his cruise is over, we will have all felt as if we went along with him. I love the way he does the live segments & photos so we can visualize his trip. Have Fun Radio!! & thanks NKTWINPEAKS, what week in July are you sailing. Rare Radio Posted June 6, 2006 Author #59 Share Posted June 6, 2006 We are approching Bermuda and should be there in about 2 hours. Many passengers have questioned me using the laptop and have asked about WiFi…Here are some of the details. The WiFi Locations on the ship are in several places. They are: 1. Viking Crown Lounge 2. Solarium 3. Centrum /Café Latte-tudes 4. South Pacific Lounge 5. Schooner Bar 6. Centrum / Library 7. Conference Room Package Prices are $25. for 60 Min. / $35. for 90 Min. / $50. for 150 Min Last night’s Formal dinner was very good. We had the Filet, which was very tender and delicious. I think the coffee has improved. It is much better than it was just last year. I was impressed with the improvement. It actually has Coffee Flavor!! So far we have dined at the Great Gatsby 2 nights, and 2 nights we were very impressed. ! There are no Dancing Waiters during a 5 Night Cruise. They still perform on 7 night and 9 night Cruises. On Tuesday night, RCI will have their entertainers performing at Kings Wharf during the Destination Dockyard Festival. A Tropical dance Party will also be held at 11:15 at the Pool on Deck 9. The Platinum/Diamond C/A part will be in the Viking Crown Lounge before dinner. It looks like a busy day in Bermuda… divaofdisney...No Concierge Lounge, but the public areas of the ship are magnificent. SunnieD...My folks are not CC members. They have an inside cabin on deck 7, Next week they will be in a Balcony on Deck 7. The Solarium is very big..I will try to get more pics. The ship is full....Most of my pics are from early in the day or when there are no passengers. catwoman1..The Balcony Cabins are roomy (See my previous "Live" posts) or click on Radio Cruise Page below. wrkfire911...There are about 25 nickle Video Bonus machines in the Casino Royale. I will be posting Kings Wharf pics when we arrive, but here are a few of the ship... Radio... Rare Radio Posted June 6, 2006 Author #62 Share Posted June 6, 2006 Hello everyone. We arrived into the Royal Naval Dockyard a little late today (10AM) The Captain announced that we ran into a little headwind that made us get into port 1 hour late. Here are some pics of our arrival…More to come later. The unofficial weather forecast (From the Captain upon arrival) is A little cloudy, a little sun, and a little rain... mdmourges Posted June 6, 2006 #64 Share Posted June 6, 2006 My wife and I usually get to see the GOS sail under the Ches. Bay bridge when she heads out since we live on the bay in Annapolis. This time we were flying home from Rhode Island and saw her leaving Baltimore from the air. Got home in time to see her sailing around the point past the South River as well. Have fun!! wolfcathorse Posted June 6, 2006 #67 Share Posted June 6, 2006 Radio, when I was on Grandeur in Feb we had Bally (waiter from Hungary) and Mate (ass't waiter from Hungary), Mary was the head waiter. They were all wonderful. If you can find Bally (Balazc) get him to whistle for you. Or if you want to cause trouble (make Bally turn red) find his section and tell his tables that he can whistle like the London Symphony Orchestra (he really can, he is really good!). Bally is bald on top with a reddish tinge to what's left. Ask if he remembers the fat grey haired lady that gave him and Mate (pronounced Matay) a gift bag. If he can't remember then remind him she sat at table 176 with 2 other fat ladies, 4 yuppies, and an African-American woman. Then remind him that he taught 1 of the yuppies how to say "I love you, honey" in Hungarian to his wife before he whistled the theme from the "Godfather" for the table. But if you can't find Bally, then just have fun with your waiter! Any laughter you can have with them really breaks their monotony.
nugeone Posted June 6, 2006 #68 Share Posted June 6, 2006 I'm taking my cruise vicariously through your photos. If you get a chance, I'd love to see a photo of a Bermuda beach. I'm so sad that I had to cancel this cruise but I'm enjoying seeing and reading about what I missed. Thanks.
