English Teacher Posted June 4, 2006 #1 Share Posted June 4, 2006 Hello, fellow cruisers--thanks so much for being here for us newbies! Where can we buy the correct sunblock for swimming/snorkel trips where "environmentally friendly" sunblock is required? Or can you at least recommend a brand? We live in PA pretty far from the ocean. Thanks again.
MississippiMom Posted June 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2006 I actually stood up and searched for ours, and was quite surprised to find it so easily. Ours is a brand called Virgin Sol, and then there is a note on the front that says "100% reef friendly." We've never looked for environmentally friendly sunscreen around here, but I suspect that I would have a difficult time finding it, too.
cee.lynn Posted June 6, 2006 #3 Share Posted June 6, 2006 There is a brand called Kiss My Face, that I love. I am very fair, and not only is it friendly to the environment, it works very well and stays on for hours even when in the water. You can buy it online: http://www.kissmyface.com/Category/Kiss+My+Face/Sun+Care/ Or, its available at Whole Foods and Wild Oats in my area. countesspottymouth Posted June 23, 2006 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2006 Is this required on our cruise? We will stop at Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel.
Quilting_Cruiser Posted June 24, 2006 #5 Share Posted June 24, 2006 Is this required on our cruise? We will stop at Montego Bay, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel. I don't know about Montego Bay or Grand Cayman, but some parks in Cozumel require it (Playa Uvas for one, and I think Chakanaab as well).
Spikesgirl Posted June 24, 2006 #6 Share Posted June 24, 2006 It should list whether or not an environmentally friendly sun block will be required. It wouldn't hurt to buy a bottle and just stick it in your backpack, in case. If you have to buy it locally, they charge you and arm and a leg. You might also check to see the you have a Trader Joe's in the area as they also carry the 'Kiss My Face' brand. Another option would be to go to the Environmental Cruise thread and post the same question if you don't alaredy see the answer listed there. Have a good cruise, Charlie
