This is my first cruise and I would like to know if you receive special amenities in a suite such a priority embarkation/disembarkation? Thanks. We didn't on the Pride of Hawaii. In fact, we were shocked at how ambivalent staff were about servicing our penthouse suite. We usually cruise Celebrity and get priority privileges at embarkation but we received no special treatment at embarkation other than being met by the concierge and walked up to our stateroom after waiting in three rather long lines. Our first cruise on NCL, and our last. We expected special treatment in a suite and didn't get it. Hope someone else gives you better feedback. Sorry. For suites, we have never had special embarkation/disembarkation privileges with Princess either. In fact, we didn't with RCI or Carnival either. Only one has been HAL so far. Can't comment on NCL, yet, but will report back in 3 weeks as we have 2 suites, an AA & an AC for our sons. Looking forward to trying Celebrity one of these days. diamondf467 Posted July 20, 2006 #4 Share Posted July 20, 2006 Please help I am thinking about booking a suite on Norwegian Jewel in Feb. 07. This is my first cruise and I would like to know if you receive special amenities in a suite such a priority embarkation/disembarkation? Thanks. I did have a suite on the Norwegian Crown (ignore what you read about the POH bc thats NCLA not NCL totally different companies. I have not sailed on NCLA but I will) I did have priority embarkation/disembarkation, VIP tender tickets.YOu get a Butler who tends to your every need. He gave us room service any time (he is on call 24/7). Gave us breakfast, snacks twice daily midafternoon and at turndown. Very helpful. The conceirge booked our reservations, brought up videos for my little brother, escorted us to and from our room during Embarkation and disembarkation. They answer your every question and fix your complaints, right away. They tend to you every need. We were invited to the Captain's quarters for champane. My little brother, my little sister, and I and whoever else wanted were taken to the Bridge! That was a real experience. Overall I say go for it, that really made out trip Cons: we got so spoiled that everytime we go on a cruise we have to book a high suite, this time on the POH we have the Garden Villa (hope we get the same treatment, a little nervous about what I read about the NCLA in the reply)
Pearlways Posted July 20, 2006 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2006 Sorry to hear about the recent suite experience on P of Hawaii. I would like to hear of any positive experiences with NCLA penthouse suites (AE, AD, AC...)? Am booked in an AD suite on PoAM for late August and am fairly new to cruising -- I am expecting Concierge, Butler services, VIP embarking, disembarking, room meal service, and of course larger living space. What can I specifically and realistically expect in an AD suite? What does a Butler do? And what should I ask for? Does the cruiseline publish a specific list of suite amenities? Thanks for any and all advice.

Thanks for any and all advice. We had a penthouse (I think it was an AE) on the Pride of America and we were very pleased with our experience. We received all of the things you're expecting to receive, although if by room meal service you mean having a meal from one of the restaurants served in the room I can't comment on that because we only ordered regular room service, but I know the full meal option is available. The butler is the person you should speak to regarding in-suite dining, and the concierge is the person you should speak to about dinner reservations, shore excursions, etc. Our butler Richard was very pleasant and was always on time with our room service, and although our concierge Al never came by to introduce himself he was great in securing our dinner and shore excursion reservations. He was also able to arrange a post-cruise rental car for us after we decided to drive around Honolulu prior to catching our return flight. I'm not sure if NCL produces a list of suite amenities but if you do a search here you should be able to find a few threads on this subject. The only amenities that I can think of off the top of my head are upgraded toiletries (L'Occitane), dvd menu, upgraded room service menu, and VIP tender/disembarkation tickets. I'm sure other people will be able to add to this. Enjoy your cruise!
firstcruise07 Posted July 20, 2006 Author #9 Share Posted July 20, 2006 Thanks so much. This is my first cruise and I am really nervous. I thinl I'll go with the suite and have it be a learning experience. Is there anything else I need to know?
smoothdancer Posted July 20, 2006 #10 Share Posted July 20, 2006 We were in a AA on the Crown and I found the suite expereince and over all service better then when we sailed Celebrity. It was a nice suprise. See our review on the Crown a few threads down for a more detailed explanation.
