Let Us Remember The Andrea Doria

I was 12...and just leaving a violin lesson when someone came in the music store and told of hearing it on the radio. I had seen her in NY with my Dad who always took me to see liner row when we were in the city as I had such a fascination with ocean liners. I have never forgotten how beautiful she was.

Here is an interesting link to a very poignant story that just ran in the newspaper...the first time in 50 years this survivor has told his story publicly. I don't know how long this will be accessible online but it's quite an account of what must have been incredibly frightening.

There is also an amazing website account of this tragedy, but if you go here be prepared to be drawn into this in a way you won't forget. It's truly unforgetable as you read the accounts of what happened and the amazing rescues.
