ladycaveat Posted September 20, 2006 #26 Share Posted September 20, 2006 We'll be cruising on Carnival's Pride out of Long Beach on January 7, 2007. We have booked on the Queen Mary for the night before our cruise and we're thinking about the Radisson Inn Seal Beach for the night after our cruise (they have a free shuttle to the Long Beach airport). Has anyone stayed at the Radisson? Is it nice and in a good location?
scampi Posted September 20, 2006 #27 Share Posted September 20, 2006 We stayed at the Queen Mary on Sept. 9th before our Carnival Pride cruise last week. We had a miserable sleepless night with a party going on above our room. The amplifiers were so loud the room vibrated. Plus now they have added the Rocky Horror Show from midnight to 3 a.m. We were further awakened when partiers in the early morning hours were returning to their rooms from (we suspect) that show. theduffys Posted September 21, 2006 #28 Share Posted September 21, 2006 Steve or SilverVal--We are booked into the Hyatt for two nights in Dec. Is it located in a decent area? Also, how much is a cab over to San Pedro? Thanks for your help.
scampi Posted September 22, 2006 #29 Share Posted September 22, 2006 The Hyatt Regency is in a great location! You are across from the Long Beach Pike. Rainbow Harbor is across the street. Shoreline Village is just steps away. There are excellent shops, restaurants, etc. all around you. If you walk North to the corner of Pine & Ocean Ave. there are even more great restaurants & cafes. You also can take advantage of the Red Passport Bus which can take you around the downtown area free. If you call the hotel they can give you the rate of the cab to the pier. time4sun Posted September 22, 2006 #30 Share Posted September 22, 2006 Is the Westin also near the same areas as the Hyatt?? We will be there this week and plan to do the Queen Mary tour (hopefully they do late afternoon/eve tour...their website doesn't give the hours), Shoreline for dinner and then a day of Knotts Berry Farm...we should be pleasantly exausted by the time we get on the ship!
Huck Posted September 22, 2006 Author #31 Share Posted September 22, 2006 Scampi, is there a liquor/grocery store close to the Hyatt? Maybe a walmart?
Bruin Steve Posted September 22, 2006 #32 Share Posted September 22, 2006 As noted, this is the best area of Long Beach to stay in... For dinner, my recommendation is Parker's Lighthouse...You'll find it nearby at Shoreline Village... Sorry, nearest WalMart is five miles away: http://yp.yahoo.com/py/ypMap.py?Pyt=Typ&tuid=24402318&ck=2889166491&tab=B2C&tcat=8109934&city=Long+Beach&state=CA&zip=90802-4537&uzip=90802&country=us&msa=4480&cs=9&ed=5bAXRa160SygbEvuRDCUJOei.DHh_kCWTmBvei0jy_OQZL4ywmjSKBj4cIWWioAAwcoUQ6yZtsznz5wbWg--&stat=:pos:1:regular:regT:19:fbT:1 Supermarket (this one is maybe 7 or 8 blocks away): VONS 600 E. irb33785 Posted September 23, 2006 #33 Share Posted September 23, 2006 We booked the Hilton Convention Center today for a cruise out of San Pedro. We are arriving 2 days early. Is there a website for the red line buses? Did anyone find out the cost of a taxi to San Pedro? Any guidance will be greatly appreciated. We will return the favor when you sail out of Tampa:D
atlmichelle Posted October 2, 2006 #34 Share Posted October 2, 2006 I wanted to pass along another little Long Beach tidbit for you guys spending time there pre- or post-cruise. We were just there for an afternoon following our Sun repo last week. While strolling through The Pike shopping/entertainment area, we found a place that rents Segways (Remember the grown-up scooter thingies that promised to revolutionize personal transportation a few years ago?) Anyway, I'm not sure about all that, but we rented two of them for an hour, and they sure were FUN!
Huck Posted October 2, 2006 Author #35 Share Posted October 2, 2006 Thank You Michelle. We were in Chicago this weekend and the police at Navy Pier were using them. They looked like fun. May have to try them.
