Anyone Taken Back to Back Cruises

We are thinking about taking the Diamond and do a back to back cruise, from Mexico then staying on and doing the costal up to Vancouver. Does anyone know if you have to packup and get off the ship and then get back on? Will they let you and your things stay on the ship between the two cruises?

We did a back to back to Alaska and back in 2003. We made arrangements to have the same room for both cruises. We did not have to move. They gave us new cards the night before the end of the first cruise which we had to use to record our pictures once again. They also just continued our shipboard account.

We had great fun wandering around the ship and looking at the various types of rooms. We also found lots of flowers that were going to be thrown out which were perfectly good, so we salvaged them and had a great bouquet in our room.

There is another advantage to back to back cruises in that the crew knows you from the first cruise and is even more friendly.

We did a back-to-back on the Grand in April. We did a 7 day carib cruise out of Galveston and then the transatlantic to Rome. We had the same cabin for both cruises. A couple of days before the end of the first cruise we received a letter in our cabin telling us to report to the Purser's desk for our new cruise cards. We were also given an "Intransit Card". At the end of the first cruise we had to get off of the ship using our old cruise cards at the security check point and then went through immigration with everyone else. We spent a few hours looking at the shops in Galveston, had a drink at a bar and then used our "Intransit Card" and new cruise cards to go to the head of the line and got back on the ship.

We've done back-to-backs on other cruise lines and did not have to get off the ship, but the first leg of the cruise did not begin and end in the U.S.

Have fun on your cruises - its nice to be on the ship before everyone else on the second leg, know where everything is and also be recognized by the crew before the other passengers get in the swing of things.

On our B2B Tahitian Princess trip we changed rooms. We went up the morning we moved and met our new Room Steward who let us know when the room was ready and our first Steward arranged for a helper who brought a hanging cart to transfer all of our hanging clothes and we packed up the drawers into our suitcase and made the move quickly.

If you keep the same cabin....you do not have to pack a thing....:)

Hi Julia (itdjbw) We are doing a B-to-B in Alaska on the Island next year and want to spend the turn around day in Anchorage also. Let me know what you did there and how you got to Anchorage and back to Whittier.

Thanks

One thing you will have to do, being you will be in Mexico, is go through immigration after the first leg. We did a B2B in the Caribbean. After all the departing passengers were off the ship, we were asked to meet in the casino. They took us off the ship to go through immigration and then let us back on the ship. You go through customs after you second leg.
