CALMOM Posted September 5, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2006 Can anyone tell me if the have stayed on the Aloha or Baja deck with a balcony cabin? I have always hear the caribe deck is the best. Is there full overhead covering on the Aloha & Baja deck? I heard that the balconies on the Caribe deck are larger but do not have full coverage. judynorth Posted September 5, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2006 We had a balcony on the Aloha deck on the Diamond and it was fine. The balcony is fully covered but smaller than the half-covered balconies on Caribe. We were mid-ships and it was a great location and very convenient. Some people say that they can hear noise form the Lido deck above if the cabin is under the pool area but we had no problems. Of course, we were in Alaska and the pools were not used much. Host Caroline Posted September 6, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 6, 2006 IMHO the covered balcony is much preferable to the "exposed"... and, yes, balconies on Aloha and esp. Baja are great.. convenient to Lido deck and the Horizon Court esp. if you aft to midship. When we ante up for a balcony,.... which isn't often.. I want to use it all the time and not have to worry about weather, etc.
clem Posted September 6, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 6, 2006 Just returned from Alaskan cruise cabin Aloha 701. Although we have cruised several times, this was our first balcony cabin so can't compare it to any others. 701 is on Starboard side, right at an exit for stairs/elevator. You can walk up 1 flight of stairs and you are in Horizon Court....walk down the hallway, open door and your're at the outside pool on same deck or chairs and tables to sit and watch the view. It is completely covered with a wide overhang as well so on rainy days you could sit outside and not get wet. We thought it was a great location. KLLund Posted September 6, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 6, 2006 We were on the sister ship Sapphire in November in an Aloha deck balcony cabin and we like it so much we book another for our asian cruise in October. Fully covered and plenty big for two people .. and you can people watch the caribe and dophin decks if you chose ... because they caribe half covered and dolphin uncovered .. cjh Posted September 6, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 6, 2006 Yes they are fully covered. However the Caribe deck is the best because you have the same amount covered as the other decks but you also have half as much more that is uncovered. So instead of being jammed up against the deck railing you have additional space. Many people think because their balcony is covered it's private well, if you can look down then the people you can look down on can also look up at you!
