love2vacation Posted October 7, 2009 #1201 Share Posted October 7, 2009 Our daughter has been bidding for a room for 2/5/2010 for months and finally got fed up trying for a resort so she bid on the 3 1/2 star and got the OSJ for 90.00 first try. She thought she might have bid less and still got it but you never know. Hotwire did have for 109.00 for that date (though they don't specifically list the name of the hotel on the offer) and regular price on Sheraton site and other hotel booking sites is 229.00. She is pleased with the 90.00 price so that is what counts. BTW most of the resorts are going for over 300.00 for this date on the regular booking sites. I think they will enjoy OSJ since it is their first time in Puerto Rico.

TargetsMom Posted October 11, 2009 #1203 Share Posted October 11, 2009 Hi, all. I posted a page or two back about my situation, in which I bid on Priceline and got Marriott SJ Resort & Stellaris Casino for $100, then my mother-in-law decided to join us on our cruise (AOS 12/6-12/13). Called the hotel to see if they would let us add another room, but they wouldn't budge. Noticed yesterday that someone had gotten our hotel for $110 and decided to bid again at that price and I got the room! So now we don't have to drop MIL off at another hotel for the night. We are happy campers! Thanks so much for all the tips! I don't think I would have tried Priceline without the encouragement of you CC folks. Reisebiene Posted October 27, 2009 #1217 Share Posted October 27, 2009 Hi all, I look for 2 Rooms in San Juan for 11/27/09-11/30/09. At Hotwire i see for this Time only 3*:(, i have wait too long. Now i want try it via Priceline, but i used never before. Whats the best strategy? Also, has someone experience with upgrades? I think, the Bookings with Priceline or Hotwire are only standard rooms, we are looking for Oceanview. Thanks
kitkat9438 Posted October 27, 2009 #1218 Share Posted October 27, 2009 Hi all,I look for 2 Rooms in San Juan for 11/27/09-11/30/09. At Hotwire i see for this Time only 3*:(, i have wait too long. I think, the Bookings with Priceline or Hotwire are only standard rooms, we are looking for Oceanview. Thanks One thing the folks at priceline will tell you is that your room is not an ocean view. Also when you call the 800 number of the hotel you get, they will tell you the same. We bid for 12/11/09 for one night precruise and 12/19/09 for one night post cruise for a resort and got the Marriott Stellairis for $95 plus taxes, which is a great rate. We are Marriott members so I called the hotel direct and linked my priceline reservation number with my Marriott reward number. After the trip I will get mileage from Continental (now 2,500 per stay). Last year we stayed at the LaConcha resort which we won through priceline. They gave me the song and dance about not being able to upgrade (and not being able to get mileage, which we did) since I paid through priceline, but the hotel upgraded me free of charge. Maybe it is because we are Marriott reward members? Here's what I did. I went to Priceline and put in my date. Do a sort my star rating and you will see what it is available. I don't know if you want a resort or a regular hotel. We wanted a resort, so I selected name your own price, selected "san juan" area and resorts only and put a bid of $95 in because it seemed to be the winner at the time I was looking. There is no way to guarantee what hotel you will get other than it will be a resort in the area you select. You definitely want the San Juan area because it covers from the airport, condado beach over into Old San Juan. You could end up with Caribe Hilton, the Mariott, or Intercontinental with resorts. If you expand that to 4 stars, you might get the LaConcha, which is Mariott's sister property and one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. If you will look back up this thread some others have gotten other hotels for much cheaper, but they are not resorts. Good luck and enjoy your trip! dodgersmom Posted October 28, 2009 #1219 Share Posted October 28, 2009 Got the Marriott Solaris for $150. Seems like most people got that hotel for $110 but something must be going on in San Juan on the 29th. Still happy. Looks like a nice hotel and it is one last thing I have to think about

cheffip Posted October 30, 2009 #1223 Share Posted October 30, 2009 I notice that both the Sheraton OSJ and the Embassy Suites are the only two 3 1/2* in San Juan. Is there a way of bidding through Priceline to ensure you will come up with one and not the other? On Hotwire it's clear because of the amenities listed. marciew Posted November 1, 2009 #1225 Share Posted November 1, 2009 Hi! I just found a 3* hotel thru Hotwire that I think somebody said is Sheraton OSJ for $92 on 1/24/10. Is there really a way to tell by the amenities whether it is or not? There's a casino, fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center, high speed internet access, & tennis nearby. Thanks for the help!
