HMK Posted September 15, 2006 Author #27 Share Posted September 15, 2006 We will be on the Glory on Nov. 4th. We are going for my daughters 40th birthday. I was thinking of sending her and her cousin there for a birthday dinner..The rest of us will go to the regular dining room. Can't afford all of us. So the price is $30.00 plus tip. so would a hundred dollars for the two of them be enough? If not what would you think would be enough?I would love the pictures...Carlaschill@aol.com thanks, Carla $100 should be more than enough, it was for us. We had a drink each and with the tip it was a tad under $100.

coofie Posted September 21, 2006 #44 Share Posted September 21, 2006 HI! I was also on the Glory from 8/26-9/2. Am curious about your experience. I went with my husband and three sons (ages 8, 12 and 15). Overall we had a good time, however we also had numerous bad experiences, including a stolen towel from my husband's chair by the Turquoise pool, nasty crew/staff including the poolside security guard, the woman who worked at the towel book stand on the Lido deck, the bartenders (guess they don't know smiles are free!), horrible White Heat Disco DJ, horrific karaoke hostess, rude passengers, and my kids hated the children's "programs." Oh, and getting off the ship in Nassau was a nightmare! Our cabin steward (we had two adjoining cabins), Olga, was great, our table staff was great (except for the beverage guy -- one night we didn't even see him until we were eating dessert) and the Emerald Supper Club was fabulous! This will not stop us from going on a cruise next year, though, because there will be a different crew (we're going on the Valor from 8/19-26/07). My favorite dishes in the dining room were the lobster tail, the filet mignon and the souffle dessert that was served on the last night. coofie Posted September 21, 2006 #45 Share Posted September 21, 2006 Dinner is $30/ea. and we gave a 20% tip, which made the meal for my husband and I come to $72. We brought our own bottle of champagne, and the corking fee was $14, for which we gave a $3 tip. We also ordered the caviar, at $45 ea. which came to $90 plus a 20% tip brought it to $108. It was an expensive evening ($72 + $17 + $108) but it was SO worth it!! My husband had the regular menu and I had the French menu so that we could taste as much as possible. If we were to do it again, we would NOT get the caviar -- by the time our entree came we were exploding! HOWEVER, if you do get it, you will not be disappointed. 1 full ounce of sevruga, served perfectly!! Anyway, there were SO many courses (we each had about 10), and each was a fabulous work of art. What sticks out in my mind is as follows. We did NOT like the escargot. Although very pretty, we prefer it served the traditional way. The way they prepared it was not as tasty and a little bit dry. That was the ONLY thing we did not like. Unbelievably awesome: the chef's starter surprise, the lobster bisque (the regular dining room, in comparison, was horrible) the frog's legs (could barely see it but the little bit there tasted fabulous) the lobster tail the filet mignon the desserts!!!! It is well worth the money!!

My favorite dishes in the dining room were the lobster tail, the filet mignon and the souffle dessert that was served on the last night. Overall, we all had a great time. There were a few things we did not like. Our bathroom in our cabin had a bad sewer gas smell. We had the plumbers come and they changed some parts, but that did not help much. I made a few complaints to the Pursers desk. We were 20 in our group, 10 adults and 10 kids. I agree the kids programs were not good, and I also heard that in the teen lounge there was some trouble with roudy teens. My son and his friends stayed away from the club. The 10yr old in our group was looking forward going to Carnival Camp, but they was nothing organized when she went. We thought dinners in the main dining room was fair to ok. Filet Mignon was very good. I thought some nights the entertainment was boring, and I fell asleep during some of the shows. I thought the last nights show(Legends) was great. As far as getting off in Nassau, the lines were long! I heard that the computers were down and that is why the lines were long. We were a large group and we all had a blast!!! Even if the casino was not friendly in the payoffs. We did not come across any unfriendly crew members. I can't wait till I get to book another one..... kaytez Posted October 2, 2006 #49 Share Posted October 2, 2006 We were on the 9/9 sailing of the Glory. We had not originally planned on the extra $ for the Emerald supper club; however, after going up the wrong stairs (going to the Fish n Chips) we looked around and talked to the 'man in charge' we decided to give it a try. GREAT DECISION! Food, entertainment and atmosphere made for a wonderful evening!
