sal7202 Posted September 19, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2006 I was looking at Celebrityatsea.com and noticed that the bridge cam on Infinity has shown the same view for the last several days, despite the fact that it says the ship is moving from port to port. Is it in drydock again or is their cam system broken?
hancock Posted September 19, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2006 Infinity is in Victoria, BC in drydock to fix the pods. The ship has had pod problems for awhile. One cruise was cancelled and another shortened by a day for the drydock.
denali1 Posted September 20, 2006 #3 Share Posted September 20, 2006 The Infinity sails from Victoria on Saturday I believe. Destination is San Francisco to pick up passengers. The 15 day Panama Canal cruise will leave from there Sunday evening. But as mentioned, the cruise has been shortened one day. It is now a 14 day. Jimsgirl Posted September 20, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 20, 2006 This correct information, though I am sure that anyone phoning Celebrity will be told that the ship is in Alaska, and will sail from SF on Saturday The computers at Customer Cervice etc are all incorrect, (staff say they cannot be altered) I do have a fax from Guest Sales and Service Administration (rec. yesterday) confirming that Infinity sails from SF on SUNDAY Sept 24 at 5.0 p.m. Any one who wishes may contact me at rafex1@earthlink.net within next two days, after that I will be in SF to go on the cruise. Happy cruising everyone I
LeftcoastBC Posted September 20, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 20, 2006 Yep. that beautiful old building is on the Esquimalt naval base or what was once. I'm not too sure of the status anymore of our great Navy here on the Coast. Just West of Victoria harbour. Have a look on google maps for something to do. When their pic was taken there was a ship in. Can't tell who or what though. Not acruise ship I don't think. The google pic also does show some of the Navy ships to the south. More than I thought. Maybe there is some hope for us after all. :)
tromvest Posted September 20, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 20, 2006 Will they replace the beds while the Infinity is in drydock?
Nilla Posted September 21, 2006 #7 Share Posted September 21, 2006 Yes the INfinity is here in Victoria has been since Friday! I live about 2 minutes from where it is docked! The crew is all wround my area waiting in long lines to use the phones to call home to there loved ones! Yes we still have the navy base here! WE have ships in our ports as well as teh Reserve Vessels! The ships you saw on google are most likely the HMCS Calgary or teh HMCS Protectuer they were both in for a re fit! Venture Posted September 21, 2006 #8 Share Posted September 21, 2006 According to Pacific Pilotage Authority website, a pilot was dispatched to take Infinity at 2pm today from the Victoria {Esquimalt} Graving Dock to Royal Roads anchorage, which is just outside the harbor. Another pilot has been requested for 9pm to guide her out of the anchorage to sea. If you look at the Infinity bridge cam, if all is on schedule, the ship should start to rise off the 'blocks'. Line the staff located on the forepeak with the stairs on the shoreside. Oosterdam has requested a pilot for 6pm on the 23rd for her drydocking in the same Victoria drydock. bacchusman Posted September 21, 2006 #11 Share Posted September 21, 2006 Yea!! Bridgecam indicates the Infinity left its dry dock about 2:22 PDT this afternoon (Thurs.). Assuming its ills are treated, that gives it plenty of time to get to SF so we can all head south. Good news!
