v72sonic Posted September 28, 2006 #1 Share Posted September 28, 2006 I posted this question before and it seems to have disappeared. Can anyone tell me when the Grand Princess docks in Majahual, Costa Maya if it is the port with the salt water pool, shops, etc... Thanks for any information you can provide. WeBeGone Posted September 28, 2006 #2 Share Posted September 28, 2006 Yes that is correct. There is a folk dancing group at the salt water pool, overpriced shops, but a great little place to eat and grab a cold one.

WeBeGone Posted September 28, 2006 #4 Share Posted September 28, 2006 Here's why these 2 names are used interchangably: Mahahual is located on Mexico's Southern Caribbean coast in the southern-most part of the state of Quintana Roo. Known as the Mayan coast, in Spanish "Costa Maya", the town of Mahahual is at the geographic center of the coast. "Costa Maya" takes it's name from the many centuries over which the Mayan people have known of this fishing and diving paradise. Having slumbered for hundreds of years, the once sleepy fishing village of Mahahual, also spelled Majahual (no one knows which is correct) is now beginning to awaken to the attraction of eco-tourism and the cruise industry. augie Posted September 28, 2006 #5 Share Posted September 28, 2006 As a cruise ship passenger consider Costa Maya to be the man made port, complete with pools, shops, etc. that is right at the end of the pier. Mahahual is the little fishing village a couple of miles south of the port. On our two visits to this port, we've had two very different, but equally wonderful days spent in the village! serene56 Posted September 28, 2006 #6 Share Posted September 28, 2006 we too went to the fishing villiage and had a great time. ate lunch for under 10 bucks for the both of us. At the time is wasnt as crowded as the Costa Maya pier as most people stay there.
