I find the article irresponsible. The writer, who's a native Brazillian tells us gringo readers to wander to restaurants for dinner and then go drinking at dancing at local clubs. Never a mention of safety concerns at all. No mention of hiring a private car to make one's visit safe.

 

Rio is a dangerous city and the article pretends it's not.

 

It's not such a perfect visit after you've been robbed, mugged and/or had your drink spiked.
