Getting rated in the casinos

ESMBDS

Recommended Posts

If you noticed, my last post was not directed to you...(did not use your quote) Nothing is haunting me...

I never said it was directed at me, did it need to be to respond? I don't think so.

Player club - card useage whether it be in the slots or on tables is modeled after the player rating systems that are overseen and audited by state gaming commissions - it is not the same as true Casino player rating. Player ratings again, do not require the membership in, or use of any card, they are tracked completeley SEPARATELY than the "players clubs".

If you are truly interested in knowing more about this, let's not waste time and space on a Cruise chat, Cruise Casiono's are not the same (legislation, regulations audits etc) as Vegas et al.

There are many books you can read, try "Casino Operations Management", written by Kilby and Fox, this book clearly explains what a player needs to do to be "rated", bottom line if you have to ask, you will never get there...

Not appropriate to waste more time in this forum, see the book reference above for the facts. For cruise casino information see:

www.oceanplayers.com

If posters feel it's a waste of time they generally move on. If there was a separate forum regarding ship casinos that would be great. The oceanplayers club does not go into detail. It's always great to hear from personal experience.....

So again let me thank you....you have been too kind.....

I think you are confused  this was directed specifically to Wentworth's post not yours and he did not mention anything about ships casinos, just the rating system. Not sure why you quoted me, or as you rudely ask others "Did you have a question?"

FWIW , although I didn't specify "ship casinos" that is what I was

referring to. And please, bringing up "rudeness" to criticize rvrgirl?

I read this thread as I do like to play the slots and black jack and have

never bothered to join the OPC. However am not a BIG gambler. The

discussion about ratings and compts caught my attention. I come away

from this thread now knowing that "if I had to ask I'll never get there".

Thanks for your helpful info

Please don't let this keep you from asking questions. And yes I figuered that you were asking about the ship casinos....

After all we are on cc right LOL!

Go ahead and join the ocean players club....use you s&s in the machines and at the tables. The compts are really kinda sucky on the ship...but hey it's something. When you rack up so many points in the machine you will get credit to play on. You will also get to know the casino manager quite well as he will read your points and buy you drinks.

Surely not anything like vegas....where we get compt rooms, meals etc...

But it's fun. After you join the ocean players club...you can e-mail them and let them know what sailing you are on and they might have a surprise waiting for you in your room....bottles of wine..fruit baskets...room decorations etc..

Good luck!

When I boarded my first Carnival cruise I played in the casino a lot,(had crappy roommates) by the second night the pit boss asked me if he could make me a rated player. I play cards. I bet every hand and play blind, 3-card poker, I also make sure there is a dollar or two on the side to place a bet for the dealer. I won and lost over and over again. By trying to tip the dealer every hand, others at the table watched and then started doing the same. This made the dealers happy. The last night of this cruise I was presented a very nice golf shirt and travel bag along with a letter thanking me for being there. I was told the dealers voted me the best customer they had that week and this was a thank you from all of them :o . Since then I have been on 2 other Carnival ships, I go on at least 1 cruise sometimes 2 a year. I have always been told to let the next cruise casino host know I am coming and that there may be something waiting for me. I have gotten nothing so I was glad I didn't hold my breath. Perks maybe, I have never seen them. The first casino was on Holiday out of Mobile, this will always be the best casino experiance on board any ship that I have been on. For those of you who like to play, have fun. If you don't win have fun anyway. Dealers like it when you can smile even if you go broke. They are all wanting us to win. Sorry if this got a little long. I play in New Orleans and Biloxi too. Love those comps.;)

Next time you cruise go ahead and join the ocean players club (unless you already did) you will get a little extra perks. I have $100.00 credit from them on our next cruise...

I join every time I go. I have been an OPC member since Jan. 2005 on Holiday, Joined again on the Inspiration Dec. 2005 then again just this month on Destiny Halloween cruise 2006. I sent the host on Fantasy via OPC site an update to my coming on board. I do this before each cruise. I have also sailed on HAL Nov. 2004, but they had no way to rate you unless you played like $75.00 a hand, too rich for my purse. I like to bet $30.00 a hand (10 on all 3 spots) with 2 dollars on side for dealer bet. We will see what happens and I will let you know when I get back. I know I will have fun, I always do win or lose.:)

If you are sailing the same line (carnival) you only have to join opc once.Unless maybe it is years before you cruise again LOL

Every one is rated differently on how much you spend ..time played etc.

Good luck! Let us know what happens!

You are correct about that. The last cruise I took a few weeks ago, I went to sign in and was told I was in the computor all ready. My mistake. I am sailing Jan 27, 2007, my forth with Carnival in 2 years. But as you said the rating is differant between tables and slots. I looked up the opc site, now it tells you what points do what for you and how the ratings are done. Very infomative page. So sorry to add any confusion to the thread.

 :o  what is getting rated? And what card do they ask to see?

Rated is a term that casinos use to track your plays. They are tracked by using your players card. You can sign up for a players card at any casino free of charge. You can use your card in the machines...and it keeps track of your bets,wins/losses, and time spent at each machine. At the tables, you hand your card to the pit boss and he writes your number down on his little clip board. He will keep track just like the machines except he does it manually (no difference) Not true....the only difference is, it is not as accurate as the machines. It does not matter if you are a highroller or just play the penny slots, your are rated the same way.

Once you start getting good ratings you will receive offers such as compt rooms, free meals, cash etc. via e-mail/mail.

The cruise ships do it the same way, except you will have to contact them yourself before you sail. You can e-mail them or call them direct and simply ask if you are eligible for any comps. Of course the comps on the ships don't even compare to land casinos.

Rvrgirl was absolutely, unequivocally correct. She gave no faulse statement whatsoever. That is the only way you can be rated.

I hope this answers your question.

copy and pasted from the casino host (Tatjana) currently on the Paradise:

If you play the Table games and wish to have your play rated please

inform the Supervisor (Pit Boss) every time you play and present your

Sail and Sign card. If your play meets the minimum play criteria (i.e.

average bet, the decision per hour of the game) you may be eligible for

complimentary beverages at the table and other benefits.

As for the OPC. I have been asked to fill out the registration card on every cruise even tho we are in the system. Dunno why.
