Would like to hear from anyone that has done Eli's eco tour. We are thinking of booking this tour while in Antigua in Februrary.

Was it worth the money? Did they get you back to the cruise ship early enough? Any comments would be appreciated.

This is one of the most popular excurions on these boards. Go to the Antigua board for more info. As far as time, it depends when your ship is leaving. Times for the tour are listed on Eli's site. One more thing, it may be too late to book this excursion for February.

We went on this tour and had a wonderful time! We did not worry at all about getting back to the ship on time. The crew is great and the food is wonderful! If you check out the photos in my signature, you can get a good idea of what you get to see on the tour.

WOW! those pictures were amazing. They really give you an idea of what we will be doing/seeing. I noticed some people had running shoes on. Is it possible to wear them and not get your shoes wet?

When you get off at Bird Island, it would be possible to carry your shoes to shore and then put them on since you wade to the shore in water maybe knee deep. At Hell's Gate that would NOT be possible since you have to swim to the shore from the boat.

I think sports sandals worked best for me.

 

You take your shoes off when on the boat. I'm pretty sure they had water shoes availlable to use at Hell's Gate, if you wish. You could email them to make sure.

We'd love to go and do it again!

 

For shoes, we used the Lands End Sea-to-Shore shoes, you can even kind of swim with them, and they're comfortable while on land. The only thing we noticed, was the sand in the water near shore at bird island and Hell's Gate tended to collect inside, so before you got back on the boat, or on land, we just took them off, swished some water, and voila, all set to go. Our guide Adam was great! He liked our shoes, said they were the first he'd seen of that style. He had found the crocs were comfortable for him to use on the boat.

I have been on Eli's tour 4 times ( not in a while though), it was the best.:) And Eli and his crew are great.

Texed - haven't seen you around for a while, we're now tied at 4. Just got back from Serenade and of course had to do the Eco-tour again. Tony is still onboard and Eli has JD driving and Lewis helping out. The tour is great as ever. You wouldn't believe some of the changes to the island that Texas guy bought, absolutly devistated it:(. They made some small changes to the tour but you'll just have to go back to find out what they were.;) . Eli is doing the Extreme most of the time so Jodi only had time to see him briefly while they were picking up at the dock. All is well with him. We're booked for another cruise in '08 and will most likely do the Extreme to hang with Eli.
