Chen Rio

Recommended Posts

My wife and I were down in Cozumel arriving by charter jet Friday July 16th. On Saturday, we rented a Jeep to tour "the other side" of the island.

One of the stops along the way was Chen Rio. This was recommended by someone off of these boards and also confirmed by a local at our hotel.

Chen Rio looks like a dive from the road......we knew that from a description that someone sent. As we walked between the buildings, the beach opens up and there are tables and chairs set up under palm trees.

Our waiter took us to the edge of the palms where we parked ourselves and we ordered a couple of rum punches and shrimp civeche........this was really good!!!

We ordered grilled shrimp.......200 pesos........way over priced!!!!..... for what we got........taste was OK......the area around the table could stand to be raked and the various straws picked up.

Before we ate, we waded around the beach area that is protected by the rock.....depth was about 3 to 3 and half feet. This beach is beautiful.

I would not recommend this place to eat.......I thought it was overpriced.
