Toddler Birthday onboard... experience/ideas needed!

We'll be on the Spirit 3/24/07, which is DD's 3rd birthday. Does anyone have any experience or ideas for helping to make a child's birthday special on board? Is the "Happy Birthday" package through NCL worth $30? Could I just ask our server at dinner to put some candles in DD's dessert?

 

So far, I'm leaning toward taking a birthday crown for DD to wear to dinner and asking our server to put candles in DD's dessert. (She's not a picky or spoiled kid so would be happy with whatever she gets.) I'm not sure that DD will be going to Kids Crew that night since it will be our first evening on board.

We always travel during spring break which is when our girl's birthdays fall. I pack streamers, balloons, confetti , birthday pins, crowns and even small posters. and of course tape. Our room Stewards(did I get the title correct?) always seem to enjoy getting in on the fun and help us decorate the cabin and even the outside of the cabin door for the girls. The casino as well as others have even sent up cakes and treats on thier birthday!!!!(My husband spends a lot of time in the casino I guess)

 

tell the restaraunt ahead of time and they will sing and bring out a special desert too!!!!!!

I'm leaning towards getting a DD a tshirt that says, "It's my birthday!" too so that that might make her feel more special.

 

It's nice to know that the waitstaff will bring DD a special dessert.

Of course you know, that most of the decoration and presents and stuff is for the benefit of the PARENTS as little ones don't notice most of it. I think those ideas of bringing candles is great. And gettig a special t-shirt is wonderful. Letting them do the $30 thing would be great and save you lots of effort. Taking candles and maybe matches would be nice too. Maybe have a candle at each meal to make it a special day!

Thanks for the reminder. I'll take the candles and ask our waitstaff at dinner if they could put them in DD's dessert. If not, it's not a big problem.

Our last cruise my DS was turning 5, We decorated the door of our cabin. The boys always knew which cabin was ours and most going by said happy birthday to him. He loved it. I was surprised that no one ripped things or anything. Have a fun trip!!!!!
