Member Posted January 13, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2007 We're booking on one of MSC's mid-Sept. Europe cruises. When comes to dining, is 7:00pm an early seating? Also, are the two dining venues available to all passengers? And are they both as roomy and convenient to get to? Thanks for sharing these? goodclicks Posted January 13, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2007 Both dining rooms are available to all but you are more likely to be in the smaller L'Approdo at the rear (floor to ceiling windows) if you are booked in a balcony/suite. La Caravella is larger and is more central, but it also has a higher ceiling giving it an airier feel. I have eaten in the equivilant of both on Opera and Armonia and would be happy with either. 7pm is the early seating. You will find a greater percentage of fellow english speakers at this time with the Italians preferring to eat much later. If it doesn't cut down too much on your port time 7pm is a nice time to eat, meaning you can see the show after dinner, and then have room for the (usually good) midnight offerings. Member Posted January 13, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted January 13, 2007 We requested a table for two near the window in the early seating. It seems the roomier La Caravella is better.
joybaby Posted January 16, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2007 7 is early - 9:15 is late! Go to www.mscusacruises.com and find your ship, then view the deck plans. There are two dining rooms, they are on the 2 lower decks. There is also a buffet (Il Patio) open for B and L. :o
Member Posted January 16, 2007 Author #5 Share Posted January 16, 2007 From the Opera deck plan, it seems there is no self-laundry facility there. Could we be allowed to do the light-ironing in our stateroom?
dis2cruise Posted January 16, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 16, 2007 sorry to say, there is no ironing on any cruise ships, major fire hazard. you can send your clothes out to get dry cleaned and from what i remember i did see a link awhile back and the prices didn't seem all that bad. cheryl
madhouseinc Posted January 17, 2007 #7 Share Posted January 17, 2007 When I pack I always seem to take too much - this time I decided to leave anything at home that needed to be ironed to be presentable. Downy wrinkle release worked fine on the few wrinkles I did have on t-shirts.

joybaby Posted January 18, 2007 #9 Share Posted January 18, 2007 BUT - no ironing facilites on this vessel, or laundries, so we have to pack wisely. Not that I like it, but I will conform.
