mithryl Posted November 21, 2007 Author #978 Share Posted November 21, 2007 Yes the cruise will be great especially since we have 4 of our close friends joining us it will be a party every night LOL I know what you mean. We had three of our close friends on our last cruise and it was really to experience it with them, especially since they were all "virgin" cruisers. Some things that we thought were just average (based on previous cruises), they thought were fabulous as first timers! Really gave us a fresh perspective. I hope your upcoming cruise is awesome. We're getting excited about our next one in March '08. We now have our air booked (great deal) and our pre-cruise hotel (which is now sold out) so we're feeling fantastic.:)
Captlaurel Posted November 23, 2007 #979 Share Posted November 23, 2007 Hi Ladies ! woohoo Just curious any of you happen to be going on the Carnival Glory Dec. 8th 07 out of Port Canaveral ? We are booked very excited and almost Packed :D We have cruised Carnival before and always have had a positive experience. We just returned from a Royal Caribbean Sovereign of the Seas on a very Scary Halloween Cruise and it was not good, mostly due to being in tropical storm Noel but also the service, staff and overall quality was lacking compared to Carnival  We have never gone on Olivia or any other all gay cruise doing all "mainstream" lol but someday would like to try one. Well, its great finding this thread and hope maybe to sea some of you onboard !!!! laurel :o Carnival Tropicale 2000 Carnival Jubilee 2001 Carnival Inspiration 2006 Sovereign of the Seas 2007 Carnival Glory coming 12/2007 ! stormloca777 Posted December 4, 2007 #982 Share Posted December 4, 2007 Nice she'll be on here way in 4 more days... Hey I received this as an email from a friend and thought I should share with you all :) FW: There will be no nursing home in my future... When I get old and feeble, I am going to get on a Princess Cruise Ship. The average cost for a nursing home is $200 per day. I have checked on reservations at Princess and I can get a long term discount and senior discount price of $135 per day. That leaves $65 a day for: 1. Gratuities which will only be $10 per day. 2. I will have as many as 10 meals a day if I can waddle to the restaurant, or I can have room service (which means I can have breakfast in bed every day of the week). 3.Princess has as many as three swimming pools, a workout room, free washers and dryers, and shows every night. 4. They have free toothpaste and razors, and free soap and shampoo. 5. They will even treat you like a customer, not a patient. An extra $5 worth of tips will have the entire staff scrambling to help you. 6. I will get to meet new people every 7or 14 days. 7. T.V. broken? Light bulb needs changing? Need to have the mattress replaced? No problem! They will fix everything and apologize for your inconvenience. 8. Clean sheets and towels every day, and you don't even have to ask for them. 9. If you fall in the nursing home and break a hip you are on Medicare. If you fall and break a hip on the Princess ship they will upgrade you to a suite for the rest of your life. Now hold on for the best! Do you want to see South America, the Panama Canal, Tahiti , Australia , New Zealand , Asia , or name where you want to go? Princess will have a ship ready to go.So don't look for me in a nursing home, just call shore to ship. P.S. And don't forget, when you die, they just dump you over the side at no charge. Chicagogirlie Posted December 6, 2007 #985 Share Posted December 6, 2007 Hello all, I just found this thread and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm Nancy, 30, from Chicago, and am a Quality Manager at a non-profit social service agency. I'm also a grad student. My wife Lauren, 26, is also a grad student and is a performance arts coordinator for a non-profit boys & girls recreation center, a Teacher's Assistant at her university, and a choreographer at a Jewish Community Center, and a free-lance sound editor. Did I mention her BA is in Ballet and Modern Dance and she is now studying Kinesiology for her Masters? Yes, a jack of all trades she is indeed. We went on our first cruise for our honeymoon w/Atlantis in 2006 and had a great time. I've had a hiatus from the boards but have recently returned to do more research on a cruise we just booked. We'll be sailing the Eastern Mediterranean on the Navigator of the Seas w/RCCL departing August 10, 2008. Anyone by chance on that ship then? This will be our first straight cruise and it's been nice to read about all of the positive experiences you all have had via the "straight" cruises. Thanks for all of the info! BlondyX Posted December 6, 2007 #986 Share Posted December 6, 2007 Hi Everyone, Wow has this board grown since I was here last!! That is amazing. Sorry, I've been gone for awhile, I've changed jobs and moved and life has been chaotic to say the least. I went from being a paralegal to selling cruises! I spent so much time talking about them I figured I may as well make money at it. We LOVED our transatlantic!! And we are booked on a Mediterrean out of Barcelona in May of VOS. If anyone has been on her, I would love some insider info! Glad to be back!:)

kmdance Posted December 7, 2007 #988 Share Posted December 7, 2007 Hello everyone. I am new to this site. My partner and I have been together for almost 10 years (it will be 10 in April) and live in the Midwest. I am a writer and she is graduating from law school in 1 week, thus the cruise. We are sailing on Carnival's Liberty for the New Year's cruise with one other L couple and 2 straight couples. We all have kids, so Carnival was a given (no one wanted Disney). We've done cruises before with our daughter (13 yrs old) but two of the other couples are new to cruising. Is anyone else on the Carnival Liberty for New Year's? themnms Posted December 10, 2007 #991 Share Posted December 10, 2007 hrllo all, glad to find this thread again. My partner and I have taken three cruises this year, but on the last in June, she got a little stomach virus and thinks it may have dampened her cruise spirit!!! Anyways we are taking one in March on Carnival Glory and I am hoping her cruise spirit will return full force!! The problem is when she is sick all she ever wants to eat is RING OF NOODLE soup by liptons, so,hence forth I shall be packing some on the off chance she does not feel well.. Has anyone else encountered this? Anyone else have a partner who may be cruised out? Mel

OCLadies Posted December 13, 2007 #993 Share Posted December 13, 2007 Hey ML.....what with all the Sov of the Sea cruises??? Seems like that is your ship of choice and I was wondering what makes it so special. Are your trips on her the 3-4 days cruises?? I'm totally unfamiliar with her and her destinations.
mlleach Posted December 13, 2007 #994 Share Posted December 13, 2007 Hey ML.....what with all the Sov of the Sea cruises??? Seems like that is your ship of choice and I was wondering what makes it so special. Are your trips on her the 3-4 days cruises?? I'm totally unfamiliar with her and her destinations. Location is the main reason. We live in Gainesville. It is about 2.5 hours to Port Canaveral. This allows us to get away for the w/e without using PTO hours. We just leave early and come in late. The short cruise gives the same RCCL cruise credits as a 7 day. The Grandeur is now in Tampa, so we will be alternating. In fact, that is our next cruise. ML

moonwalkmama Posted December 17, 2007 #996 Share Posted December 17, 2007 Hi There, My partner Sheri & I love crusing. We have been together for 20 yrs. and have just recently started cruising at least once a year. We have been on 3 crusies and have our 4th planned. Our next one will be on Carnival Victory Nov 9 2008. We have a group of 10-12 going with us an we can wait.. We have thought about an Olivia Cruise, but as others have posted, we just can't seem to pay those prices. Regular crusing work fine for us. We are who we are, and have never had any issues and everybody has always been very friendly... We are in our early 40's, we have always cruised with friends & family and made our own little group(ages lates 30's to mid 60's). It would be great to find other FOD cruising with us on our next cruise. Our group loves to hang out at the pool, laugh, dinner, the casino, bingo, shoows, shopping, just enjoy the whole cruise experience. Maybe we will see ya there.. Happy Crusing!! moonwalkmama Posted December 19, 2007 #998 Share Posted December 19, 2007 Hi All.. My partner(Sheri) & I have not done the Olivia thing.. Like some folks that stated, we just can't seem to pay those prices.. Yes. It would be nice to have the entire ship of nothing but "family", but we have never had an issue on the other cruises. We have been together for 20 yrs, and just recently started booking cruises every year! We like to cruise in small groups with friends & family & we always have a blast. We are who we are, we don't hide it, fake it or flant it, just act like every other couple on board. And again we have never had any issues. Maybe one year we will splurge and go Olivia, but for now. I would rather do 2 or 3 cruises a year, than to pay Olivia's prices. Our next is Nov 09, 08 on the CCL Victory to the Southern Carribean, with a small group of 10 -12. Can't Wait!! Happy Cruising !! :) Kim : } RCCL Nortic Empress 10/99 CCL Mircle 11/06 RCCL Jewel of the Seas 11/07 CCL Victory 11/08*
p3sgirl Posted December 20, 2007 #999 Share Posted December 20, 2007 My girlfriend is not the girly type. Me, on the other hand, OMG, I cannot wait for formal night to throw on my hot little number. However, I'm getting kind of worried that we won't be able to go to formal night because she doesn't get dressed up and certainly will not put on a dress. So what do we do? Will a pair of dress pants and a button down shirt suffice? I mean, I'm talking about the kind from NY and Co? How have you no-so-lipstick-pantyhose-and-dress type of girls worked it? - Lisa (preparing to tantrum on the floor if I can't go to formal night) Also I'm new here so any help on how I add my favorite threads will be helpful. GenXer85 Posted December 21, 2007 #1000 Share Posted December 21, 2007 My new love and I are going on the Olivia cruise on the Zuiderdam at the end of January. I have cruised several times before, but this is her first time. I understand that many don't care for Olivia because of the prices, but it sounds worth it to me for the environment. :D Anyone else going? I don't see a roll call for it . .unless MANY pages back.
