lindalo5032 Posted April 8, 2008 #2151 Share Posted April 8, 2008 We have used walkie talkies on the Conquest and other ships--they are really a great way to communicate with family members. BUT sometimes the channels get busy with lots of folks using walkie talkies. We don't let the kids play with them--we reserve them ONLY for communication purposes when we are in different areas of the ship.
lindalo5032 Posted April 8, 2008 #2152 Share Posted April 8, 2008 I've read that Carnival is now confiscating rolling coolers and not letting you bring them on board. Has anyone had recent experience with this on the Conquest? If this is true on the Conquest, what kind of collapsible coolers are you using? sixgun8 Posted April 8, 2008 #2153 Share Posted April 8, 2008 the rule is a 12x12x12 cooler. If you have a slightly bigger cooler and pack it away in your luggage you can get it on board, but you can't carry on anything bigger.

suzyjack Posted April 8, 2008 #2157 Share Posted April 8, 2008 Thanks for the walkie-talkie info. We will be celebrating our 25th anniversary and I really don't want to spend it searching the boat for kids- my youngest is 13, so it isn't like they can't be on their own some, but I do want to "check in" And they can contact us if they need to after curfew. (Theirs, not ours!:D

Any one have any info on this cabin? Also I am thinking of bring my laptop to have to unload my camera, is this a good idea? I am a first time cruiser but my wife has been once . I found that 1GB & 2GB memory sticks were so cheap that I brought about 8GB on the Conquest cruise and ended up bringing back some empty ones. I swapped out a stick at each destination and had plenty. It beats dragging around a laptop which you try to guard with your life.

suzy1212 Posted April 10, 2008 #2163 Share Posted April 10, 2008 I was going to keep the laptop in my room. Will it be ok their. I think the "guard the laptop with your life" comment must have been referring to while you are traveling and such. I'm sure there's a slim possibility that someone could break into your cabin and steal it, I've never worried about that though. I do worry about sitting it down and not watching it carefully after I board but before I'm allowed in the cabin and when we're debarking and you're not always paying close attention to all you bags. sixgun8 Posted April 10, 2008 #2164 Share Posted April 10, 2008 we brought our laptop with us with hopes of downloading the pics nightly and writing up reviews of the day. We found out by the time we finally got to our room we were so tired that we didn't want to mess. I tried to write a review one night and I actualy fell asleep face first into the laptop. txskier Posted April 10, 2008 #2165 Share Posted April 10, 2008 Question? I purchased the cruise protection plan has anyone had to use this? Is it worth it or just a wast of money? I figure with having small children that i better not take a chance and just get it. Little kids seem like they are always getting sick and my kids exspecially since we've moved here to TX. Any thoughts on the protection plan? Thanks Ang It's like your auto insurance. It is not worth it til you need it. I get it myself.

allgeeteredup Posted April 10, 2008 #2168 Share Posted April 10, 2008 The depth is the same on all three, the length is different on each level. Click on this picture, then click on "full size" at the top right. Make a close examination and I think you will see what I mean. Is the balcony that is on the corners (very large), is that one balcony or shared by more than one? Anyone have an answer to that?
allgeeteredup Posted April 10, 2008 #2169 Share Posted April 10, 2008 Ive never booked while on a cruise since I usually always have another booked anyway, but I think you do get OBC and no it does not have to be booked with the ship you are on... I just talked to Carnival about the perks and this is what I was told: 3-4 day cruise $50 OBC per stateroom 5-6 day cruise $75 OBC per stateroom 6-7 day cruise $100 OBC per stateroom 8-12 day cruise $200 OBC per stateroom You still have to pay the full deposit per person so save those quarters from the casino!!!!!
IBSaling Posted April 11, 2008 #2170 Share Posted April 11, 2008 Is the balcony that is on the corners (very large), is that one balcony or shared by more than one? Anyone have an answer to that? It is a higher level balcony category (9A) which is much larger than a standard balcony or even an aft balcony.

CruisinMama7 Posted April 13, 2008 #2172 Share Posted April 13, 2008 Is there any place on the ship where you can go for star gazing? The places I've seen, there's tons of lights, which limits any chance to see stars. Any suggestions welcome! I'm sailing next week! Woo Hoo!!! :D :D :D
sixgun8 Posted April 13, 2008 #2173 Share Posted April 13, 2008 I take my laptop to take notes of the trip and download pictures. Only I found the best time for me to do this was early in the morning while I am waiting on DW to get ready to eat breakfast. Are you kidding, we were up so early to try to see the sunrise and then off to rush through another day. Not a chance on that one. PLus after being up until midnight or later and waking up at 630, I don't know if I could've even turned the computer on. Is there any place on the ship where you can go for star gazing? The places I've seen' date=' there's tons of lights, which limits any chance to see stars. Any suggestions welcome! BrendaB1 Posted April 13, 2008 #2174 Share Posted April 13, 2008 Is the balcony that is on the corners (very large), is that one balcony or shared by more than one? Anyone have an answer to that? It's one balcony & it's awesome. :D Also the two next to it, along the side of the ship are extended balconies. Longer than normal. The divider will open between 6452 & 6450 to make a great place for sailaway. The second long balcony door blocks the other doorway or we would have all three connecting. CanTex Posted April 13, 2008 #2175 Share Posted April 13, 2008 I can't remember from our Conquest cruise last month, but is there access to Sur Mer from the aft elevator bank? We have always used the inside stairs at the back of Cezanne (Lido buffet). This fall, we're going again on the Conquest -- this time with my parents -- and my mother has a lot of difficulty with stairs. From the deck plans, it does not seem the aft elevators go to the Panorama deck. The other option would be to go up the mid-ship elevators and walk around the outside deck to get there...
