nikita Posted January 30, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2007 Anyone that's been on the Crown Princess and can answer this question - I have a maroon oriental type satin dress - a little below knee with slits in the side. My question is this - is this too casual for a formal night or too dressy for a regular night? I was thinking since it's red and we going to be on the cruise during Valentines day that I would wear it on a non-formal night (Valentines day) or should I just wear it on one of the formal nights? Help me make the decision - don't want to be too overdressed for the regular night or too underdressed for formal night. Thanks!
Cruzfan34 Posted January 30, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 30, 2007 Nikita, on our last cruise I saw alot of women wearing cocktail dress on the casual nights. I just purchased a black satin below-the-knee dress. It has embroidered pastel-colored flowers on one side in the front and in the back. I'll be wearing it for Valentine's night on our cruise and it's not a formal night. I'll be wearing very formal gowns for the formal nights, so I think my dress would be ok (and yours too) for the casual nights. Wear your pretty dress and enjoy!!:) ETA....Oops....I was never on the Crown Princess, but I would think the same principle still applies.
GORDONCHICK Posted February 4, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 4, 2007 The dress sounds more casual than formal. Without a photo, it's hard to be sure though.

I guess I'll just take it and see how I feel. Thanks for the comments!
JolieMadam Posted February 4, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 4, 2007 This would not appear to be formal wear at all no matter what ship you cruise on from your description. Wear it on one of the other nights and it will be very appropriate and charming. My daughter has a beautiful satin oriental styled pale green embroidered dress which is floor length and she wears this for formal attire, but the length is what makes the difference here.
