suntanzi Posted January 31, 2007 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2007 hi, we will be on Fascination 2/5-9 and right now it looks to be pouring in Cozumel. I have never cruised in the rain...what happens, everyone just heads to the casino assuming they aren't seasick from stormy weather??
jleq Posted January 31, 2007 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2007 For the most part, rainstorms in the Caribbean tend to be short-lived. Take shelter. In most cases, the rain will stop within 20-40 minutes
memphislonghorn Posted January 31, 2007 #3 Share Posted January 31, 2007 Don't worry. I just got back from Coz last Sat. The forecast will say 60% chance of rain everyday. The day I was there, partly cloudy, 80-85 degrees, there was a 10 minute rain shower. You will be fine!:)
markandstacie00 Posted January 31, 2007 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2007 The casinos on board are closed while in Mexico. There are no casinos in Mexico. I once spent a week in Playa Del Carmen which is on the mainland just across from the island of Cozumel. We waited until the end of the week to take the ferry to the island, my wife had never been there. As we crossed the channel, the weather started to turn. After the ferry ride was over, it was pretty dark and cloudy in Coz. I was grumpy and was felt predestined to have a bad day. It soon started lightly raining so I knew our day snorkeling was ruined! I decided to get a car and tour the entire island. We found a pretty remote restaurant for a beer on the Windward side of the island. This part of the island is completely uninhabited and there was not another soul there. As we spent more time exploring the rain let up slightly and we spent a half an hour with on the beach completely alone. It was very romantic with the waves crashing. Later we ended up in San Miguel (the only real town) and it started poring. Many cars there had no tops and all were soaked. Our jeep had rain coming in everywhere. WE found a restaurant called La Choza for good food. Back than the menus were only in Spanish and we ordered items we had never heard of and said bring on some margaritas. As the storm pounded, all inside huddled to the middle of the room. There are no windows, so the rain just came in. They had the best food ever and drinks were good as well. Soon came along three elderly mariachis with instruments and they sand several romantic songs to us. It was so romantic with the wind rain clothes soaked and all! So ended my rainy day in Coz. I had built up what fun Coz was to my wife and it turned out as different as could be from my well laid plans. That day was over 10 years ago and was the highlight of my honeymoon. It was also the only rain we had on my honeymoon. It makes me laughwhen I hear many complaints about cruises or vacation. That day showed me that every day, cruise, and even life is what you make it! Cotton Posted January 31, 2007 #5 Share Posted January 31, 2007 Tanzi - Most islands have rain at least part of every day - that's why they're so lush green and, well...tropical!:) I've encountered showers each time I've been ON Cozumel. They have been brief, and I mean like 10-15 minutes brief. I just duck into a shop or put on one of those little teeny ponchos I carry with me, and keep walking. Never had a shower long enough to "rain on my parade" anywhere on the islands. Don't worry about it. Just go w/the flow. You're on a cruise...how bad can it be?:D
caribbean dreams Posted January 31, 2007 #6 Share Posted January 31, 2007 I have had no problem when it rains in Cozumel or the Caribbean at all, like everyone else said......the forcast always calls for rain but it is short lived and it is a warm rain so it has never really stopped me from doing what i had planned.
