sun-lover Posted February 11, 2007 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2007 Which zipline tour would people recommend? Is there time to do a helicopter tour in Kaui the morning of the 2nd day even though the ship departs at 2pm? Any comments on hiking tours in Hilo? Snorkeling in Molokini? yogi Posted February 11, 2007 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2007 We did an airplane tour{Air Ventures} at 10:30am on the 2nd day in Kauai and had plenty of time. We also left at 2pm. The airport is only about 5 minutes away.
POHherewecome! Posted February 11, 2007 #3 Share Posted February 11, 2007 Is there time to do a helicopter tour in Kaui the morning of the 2nd day even though the ship departs at 2pm? There's plenty of time. The helicopter rides are usually about an hour - but you need time to get to the helicopter company and back - I'd say the whole thing would not take longer than 2 1/2 hours. I am sorry we didn't do our helicopter tour on the second day - doing it on the first day kind of messed up that day, because we didn't hire a car. hncg57c Posted February 12, 2007 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2007 We chose to do a zipline tour with Skyline Eco-Adventures in Maui. We had a lot of fun and would do it again. They are located before the entrance to Haleakala Crater. We opted to book this tour on our own for about $70 per person. If you plan on going to Haleakala Crater on your own, this would be a great stop before or after your visit to Haleakala Crater.
Nancyquilts Posted February 12, 2007 #5 Share Posted February 12, 2007 An interesting hike from Hilo would be if you rent a car with several other people, and those who wish could hike across Kilauaia (sp) Volcano from the Volcano House to Halemaumau Crater while at least one person drives around the rim and picks them up at the other side. It is probably 3-4 miles. My husband and a friend went, and I picked them up by the crater. It is rather rough over the lava, but something you'd probably never get to do anywhere else.
