Celebrity Secrets they usually don't tell you about

re: Cirque White Night:

No, you don't have to book for it in advance. Just be sure to show up early, as in our one experience, the seats disappear very quickly.

Our table mates on the Summit last March went real early to be in the first group. The first set of people were put on stage behind a curtain to be on the dance floor as part of the start of the event. When the curtain went up all the seats were gone! So don't be there too early if you want to sit. Don't know if all changed or not.

Our take: The characters and decor were only mildly interesting. Don't expect anything near a Cirque show. The music was a modern disco beat that droned on all night never changing, a "little" fun at first but boring after a while. I wish it was back the night time party band dance lounge it was in the pre-cirque days myself. It will be interesting to see if it's changed on our Summit cruise at the end of September, as we were told last March that they were still working out the event. (I'm trying hard not to call it a show as it really isn't).

deb18:

I haven't been on Celebrity in a while (we'll be on Infinity on 11/20/05), but I have ordered the cheese plate on RCCL. It included a variety of cheeses, some mild, some a little sharp, and some blue cheese. It is served with nondescript crackers. It was great for me because I eat very small meals, so I asked my waiter to prepare a wrapped cheese plate for me each evening that I could take back to my cabin to have later if I wanted a snack. He was very accommodating - couldn't have been more wonderful. It saved me from all the extra calories I would have had if I had wandered around the room service menu.

I have the list of the 2ABC and CC larger balcony cabins on M class ships, but wonder if anyone has had experience with the front of ship outside category 5 cabins. Some seem to have port holes and others windows. Is this a difference in side ov cat 5 and front facing ov cat 5?

Also, from the drawing of the deck plans it appears some of the cabins themselves are larger. I think some may be handicapped and that's why. But it looks as if 6000, 6001, 6002 and 6003 are not handicapped but are larger. Also 6019 looks larger. Please advise. I'm tring to decide if it's worth $300 pp more for a 2c balcony (I've had the regular sized balcony on Summit) than the larger category 5 cabins, if my eyes are telling me the truth.

Yes, I know, a balcony is wonderful, but this is a very expensive cruise I'm researching to Hawaii, and might be able to live with a cat. 5. Thanks

Tomato ( or is it To MAH to?)

Here is the link to the form to use for the Shareholder discount:

http://media.corporate-ir.net/media_files/nys/rcl/reports/Shareholder_Benefit_2005.pdf

As long as you have 100 shares, you are entitled to onboard ship credit. The amount is dependent upon how long your cruise is.

I have read this thread and I will tell you one more secret in the diningroom on all Celebrity Ships, you can special order your desserts. You can ask them to make anything for your table for dessert and as long as you give them one day's notice you can have your desired desserts. We love to special order their Keylime pie, it is out of this world fabulous!!!

Just another Celebrity Secret!:)

I have read bits and pieces about this option. What if you don't know which cruise you want for your next cruise? Can you change your mind and if needed can you cancel altogether? What are the benefits of booking while on a cruise?

Thanks in adavance.

You can later change cruises and the on-board credit will apply to your new choice.

If you cancel altogether, the regular penalties apply if you're getting close to your sail date. Celebrity's site shows the number of days and percentages based upon the length of the cruise. If you're far enough out, there are no penalties at all for cancellation.

I am really loving this thread. My husband and I are cruising on the Constellation next Xmas-time in a Royal Suite and it's our first Celebrity cruise. We've been working and saving a long time for this vacation. This is all very informative and is helping to rasie the excitement level. Keep up the good tips. Glad to hear about the sushi!

I just heard some disturbing news. A business analyst on TV warned there may be trouble at many of the airports, particularly in the South due to Airliners being unable to get jet fuel. I sure hope we are able to get out of here for this cruise. Has anybody heard these predictions? Gretchen

Hi, Gretchen, I too had heard that about the possibility of low supplies of jet fuel. I called my TA and she has assured me that we should be okay. I am due to leave Southwest Regional Intl Airport out of Ft. Myers Florida thru Atlanta and on into Vancouver, on Sept 15th for a 2 week cruise of AK and W. Coast of the US. I too am concerned. Problem is, being the diligent traveler, I bought travel insurance and when I asked them about this particular issue and if I would be covered they told me..."maybe". That was not the word I wanted to hear, I wanted to hear "but of course". We shall see, Meanwhile, I continue to prepare for my flight on...ready now? Delta...hellooo, my husband is wating for them to either go bankrupt or on sympathy strike, I do feel guilty about worrying about these things when people in your state and AL and MS don't even have their homes any longer. PUts it all into perspective!

I have started this thread at least six times in the past but I finally made it from beginning to end. First, Thank you Walt, for for continuing this as a sticky! Secondly thanks for all the hints and tips, many already known and some actually forgotten after taking Princess last.

Best new one for me was the decaf iced cappucino. However, dh is seeing the onboard account go up rapidly on that one! The man just shakes his head and doesn't believe me when I say that the Martini bill will be lower!

Carol, will see you in the Sushi Bar if we don't run into you in Rome!

What a great thread - and not just for the new Celebrity cruisers in our midst - we've found out a lot of these by trial and error - now I can cross the error factor off a number of things - thanks so much, all of you. It's well worth keeping this thread going - so post on - :D

We are taking our first X cruise in Oct. and I haven't seen here, or anywhere, if X, Mercury, will cash a travelers check without a FEE. I hate to be nichel and dimed. I read someone said the casino, but didn't say if there is a fee. I don't want to carry cash, but I would like to give my tips in cash.

Someone please help!

I have a question. Has anyone every had the cheese plate for dessert they have down at the end of most of the menus? what is on it? Is it any good? thanks deb

Actually, the cheese course is not in place of the dessert, but served prior to the dessert. In Europe that is a normal course before the dessert. If you go to the specialty restaurant on the M class ships the cheese course is automatic.

My DH and I will traveling on the Infinity 12/10 Panama Cruise. Since that thread seems to be dead I thought someone on this thread could answer a question I have. Does the Infinity have safes and refrigerators in their cabins. This is our first cruise with Celebrity so we were wondering. Any help for tour ideas along the Mexican coast would also be appreciated. If you wish to post this info on the "dead" tread, the site is:

This may be more a general "cruising from Ft. Lauderdale" secret than a Celebrity specific secret.

When you ride the shuttle to and from the airport it costs $10.00 per person per trip. It has been my experience that (at least after the cruise) you are put on the bus and sit and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and.... I've seen people with early flights finally panic and bail out to find other transportation. If you circle to the left as you leave the cruise ship terminal there are lots of taxis. You get courteous service, help with your luggage, a much faster more pleasant trip, and even with the tip it costs less than the shuttle.

I'll never use the shuttle again in Ft. Lauderdale.

Yes--all the cabins on Infinity have safes and mini bar/refrigerators no matter which category you have.
