Celebrity Secrets they usually don't tell you about

...when you get off the ship basically last, your luggage is sitting all by itself and you avoid that awful routine of trying to locate it with others knocking you over trying to find theirs. :D
Don't you shudder a bit when you don't see your luggage at first. I want to get off a bit before last so that I have time to steal someone else's if mine has alrealdy been stolen.

After many years of airline travel for a living, my luggage was only missing once. Unfortunately, it was in St. Paul, Minnesota, and all of my long johns were missing for a couple of days while I was up in Virginia, Minnesota. Actually, I had my bag back within two days even though it had to ride on a bus for about 12 hours.

Les, Actually I lied. We just wait until way after our color has been called. We get off with the last group. The luggage is lined up in rows according to color. By the time we get off our luggage is sitting by itself in an empty row. :) I'm still waiting for someone to tell me why it is wrong to do this. I'm sure we are offending someone by doing this but it sure saves the hassle of the crowds.

Our cabin always seems to be next to a cabin of some couple that likes to get lots of criosants and sit out on the balcony. They usually take a plate full of them and leave them out there for a little while before they actually go back out there to eat them.

Our secret...

We lean over the balcony and get a couple of fresh croisants off the plate!

Embark early and head for the spa. Volunteer to be a spa model for the tours that are offered the first day. Our last 3 cruises, my husband has had a free hair treatment (frangipani massage or something of the sort) and 2 different massages). You have to be willing to be 'on display' (that is the reason I have never done it), but if you don't mind that it is a great way to start the cruise.

Caribbeanbound, I saw the vest item for you are a closeout store. It is for handicapped folks to reach high up, but I renamed it the CROISSANT GRABBER for you. It is a handle on a long stick with a pincher on the end. It is 4 plastic pieces that meet in the middle when you squeeze the handle so you can grab as many asyou want, even beer & wine too......... hate the cigarettes just grab it & pitch it. Would be very useful on a cruise for you. It was $3.

My secret is to take a plate of criosants onto the balcony after doing some unsavory things to them. The couple on the next balcony were leaning over and taking a couple whilst we held back in the cabin having a good laugh.

Was that you CaribbeanBound

DMarch - I have to disagree here.....

I'll start: You can get anything you want for breakfast from room service. If it's not on the breakfast door card, then just write in what you want.

We just got back from a Galaxy Cruise. I tried to have grapefruit delivered with our room service breakfast and didn't get it even though I wrote it in quite boldly on the order card. No big deal. Only tried it once.

Celebrity doesn't want you to know that the drinking water in the cabins is perfectly safe--and quite good. Why else would they plop a big bottle of spring water in every cabin--$4.00--at the start of the cruise?;)

Having just returned from our Celebrity cruise, we had a pitcher of water left with the filled ice bucket twice a day in our room. This was nice especially for brushing teeth. We only got warm water from our faucet.

They brought us eggs benedict, omelet's, and pancakes, etc, etc. A grapefruit seems like an extremely simple request.

Yes, you offended me. That's my trick. Now everyone will try it! :D

I'll bet you ordered outside of regular meal hours - the menu trick only works during meal hours ;)

OTOH, it works for ALL regular meals served in the Dining Room.

We used the card that you hang outside your room on the doorknob. We even check for the delivery to be between 9:30 and 10:00 AM. That wasn't outside of regular meal hours for breakfast.

Still, as I said, it wasn't a big deal to us. We liked eating outside of our room better anyway.

Someone mentioned using the casino for tip money at the end of the cruise...

Can anyone tell me if Celebrity adds a fee to advances against your card in the casino?

They don't charge a fee for getting cash on your credit card. They treat it as another shipboard purchase.

Sorry it didn't work for you. I have had no problem with writing in what I want. Not once has it not been honored. I would say it's your pantry person. An extra tip and a conversation might have greased the way so to speak, but I have never found that to be needed.

A table mate only ate Vegan, with a very strict microbiotic diet. They custom cooked for him the entire trip. Special breads, barley dishes, buckwheat, non-dairy, etc. As the chief's cook for 40 nationalities for the crew, they have a large inventory of ingredients. One day he had a glass of champagne and it almost decked him.

It will be interesting to see how he makes out on his first Princess cruise on the Tahitian Princess. I would be even more amazed if this small ship would have the supplies, and whether the Princess chiefs would even do it.

On our last Horizon cruise we sat with a wonderful couple from Britian. The woman had Celiacs disease and could not eat anything with wheat. They did the best they could to accomodate her, but she ended up with the same potatoes every day. when the maitre 'd came around to take her order the night before we would all try to listen in on the next days menu.
