westernmom Posted March 12, 2007 #26 Share Posted March 12, 2007 indie, If the op wasn't a troll and is legit, why isn't he on here answering some basic questions: which ship, etc. The complaints seem a little exaggerated. Seems kinda' fishy to me.....
VentureMan_2000 Posted March 12, 2007 #27 Share Posted March 12, 2007 What kind of noise is generated by the 24 hour pizza place? I understand it was the mariachi pizza place...:D
GoinCruisin Posted March 12, 2007 #28 Share Posted March 12, 2007 You should escalate your claim yourself. Send letters to as many people high up in Carnival as you can. My guess is you will get something out of it. Their treatment of you, if described accurately, is inexcusable. I think it's silly to expect others to avoid Carnival for your one bad experience, though. Similar things can and has happened on just about every cruise line. Just read the other forums. They did offer him something... a 15% refund and a discount on a future cruise... do you think he's going to get more because he picked a bad cabin???
GoinCruisin Posted March 12, 2007 #29 Share Posted March 12, 2007 Reminds me a little of the guy that posted the other day, only to come back and say he had made a bet as to how many flames he would get...:D
cruisinbuddy Posted March 12, 2007 #30 Share Posted March 12, 2007 I wouldn't dump Carnival, just do some homework before you book your next cruise. I always study deck plans and pictures before I book a room. Now you can't do anything about your neighbours but you can book a cabin away from busy spots. A member of our CC group on our January sailing of the Liberty had a cabin above the piano bar, I appologized for the noise b/c I was in there every night. So just do some homework to enjoy your cruise.

If the events in the OP's account are true as described, which I realize is a very big "IF", and it happened to me, I wouldn't settle for anything less than a full refund. I'm quite sure the OP can get more restitution if they escalate the complaint to the right people at Carnival and can document the problems. Why the OP didn't just walk off the ship at the first port and invoke Carnival's vacation guarantee, though, I don't know.

Moondawgie Posted March 12, 2007 #33 Share Posted March 12, 2007 Bwahahahaha. Mariachi ... Riverdance .... stomping customers ... you guys crack me up. OP - if you come back and are not a troll, consider that you are talking to Carnival cruisers and not someone who can give you a discount. State your case clearly, completely and concisely, without threats or exaggerations and you will get MUCH MUCH more validation. 15% doesn't sound bad. Come here and we'll help you choose a cabin. Sounds like the OP took either a guarantee, or one of the twilight cabins... in other words, the cheaper... if he chose it himself, that's his own fault... but with a guarantee, nothing is guaranteed ;) YOu can't get a new cabin just because there is a public venue above or below you... Carnival prints deck plans very clearly, buyer beware, or do we not take responsiblity for our own actions and how we spend our own money anymore??? As for the people smoking dope 2 CABINS down... I've had pretty extensive background in this area :p And can tell you that for the smoke to come out of their pretty sealed cabins, a few cabins down and sneak into another pretty sealed cabin, is pretty slim... if they are talking about it in the hallways... you have to be kidding me... it takes all of 2 seconds to walk by... but yes, I'll say it, I don't believe for one second that they smelled smoke in their cabin from people a few cabins away. These rooms are not advertised as "night-owl" rooms, nor is it normal to expect a great amount of noise late at night from the Lido buffets, including the all-night pizza joint. If (again, I know it's a big "IF") the room was truly noisy, the OP has a legitimate gripe. We're all obsessed and super-educated about cruises here, but the vast majority just aren't. It's easy to forget that. As for the people smoking dope 2 CABINS down... Again, I predicated my previous post on the OP telling the complete truth. If it happened to me the way the OP described, I guarantee I would be getting a full refund for my cruise. Of course, as I implied earlier I'd have invoked Carnival's vacation guarantee, making the whole point moot.

Do you know the OP, or are you the OP?? ;) Exactly... there typically isn't noise from the PIZZA BAR  But I'm sure that anything can be blown up... sorry, I don't say this often, but I'm not buying most of the story. I've seen people have A WHOLE LOT worse happen, and get 15%... like Pickle who's toilet didn't work for half the trip? Alot more inconveniences than noise... pick your cabins wisely and take responsibility for what you pick... if you book a guarantee, then you have nothing to complain about. truecruiser Posted March 12, 2007 #37 Share Posted March 12, 2007 in the best of cabins, i can hear people snoring...and i bet they can probably hear me:eek: . but, i wldn't leave the ship over it. if the cabin really wasn't that noisy, but the OP is just super sensitive to noise, then no cabin assignment wld have worked. the op wld have had a problem everwhere in all likelihood. Don Haynes Posted March 12, 2007 #39 Share Posted March 12, 2007 People book guarantee so they can save some money, then complain they got a less desirable cabin. Tought luck. If you didn't book guarantee, shame on you for choosing this cabin. As far as I know, in international waters, there is no law against the weed. Tought luck, again. The Captain of the ship is the law, and the judge. I can't believe Carnvial offered a 15 percent credit. I can't believe the OP refused this. Not familiar with that cabin, so I am no expert on whether it is a night owl or not... you say it's not, so fine... but he could have booked a guarantee... same thing goes, your location is chosen by Carnival... Now, I've had alot of noise in the AFT from the band, but not from the mad dash of pizza eaters. :p
Stircrzy Posted March 12, 2007 #41 Share Posted March 12, 2007 ROFLMAO!! Maybe people were stomping around demanding pizza :p You know how it is when you've got the munchies... I'm concerned about the people in the cabin BETWEEN the OP and the dopesmokers. Somebody needs to go check on them. They may have gotten a contact high from the secondhand smoke and be the ones stomping around the Pizza place.

Went on the Fascination in 04, didn't know about CC and had a great time, but had booked the Imagination for my family in 06, and had a PHENOMENAL:D time due to the inside tips from cruise critic members. Ok....... to the main point:rolleyes: I have now booked the Valor for Sept and got upgraded to the Verandah deck, and it is because of all the posts, that I was very careful and didn't let them assign me a room under the public areas. First Balcony, can't wait! Rely on fellow CC members, they won't lead you astray:p
wework2play Posted March 12, 2007 #48 Share Posted March 12, 2007 Our Cruise over January was a nightmare. We are a family of 5. Our room was directly underneath the all night Pizza place. The noise was unbearable we never slept. We asked for another room. They said they had none. The purser came to our room and confirmed the awful noise. We asked to get off and get refunded as per Carnivals policy. They said they would assure it would get better. It got worse. To add to this the occupants of room 2 doors down smoked dope constantly. Called security twice they just stood in the hall and smelled it did nothing at all. Our children asked why the cant do something. What do you say to them. Carnivals Customer Service after counteless phone calls emails etc never would refund us our money as requested ...but wanted to give us a 15%discount and credit on a future cruise. We could not believe it. We would never go again. Any hotel or reputable company would not only refund your money but would avoid a long drawn out process. Carnival:mad: would not even forward our concerns to Dickinson Carnivals President. So do they care about you their service or your money? Please feel free to call Carnival Customer Service or email them and ask what happens to you if a simular situation should occur as in room 8402 First week of January 07 on Carnival. We had a similar experience in 06 on an RCCI ship. There was a REALLY LOUD noise in the middle of the night that last for quite a while, and we could smell marijuana all down our hallway. I got a little irritated, but I got over it. It's all part of traveling. Things don't always go perfect.

vlwalker Posted March 12, 2007 #50 Share Posted March 12, 2007 Did you do any research on the location of your room before the cruise? I selected a deck that was sandwiched between two decks with just rooms; then I selected my room. No casinos, pizza parlor etc. Sorry about your room.:(
