Help! Can anyone explain "Guaranteed Balcony"??

Through my travel agent I booked an 8D balcony cabin on the Destiny. She referred to it as a guarantee/d cabin. Am I correct in thinking that she chose a guarantee for my DH and I because it is only with a guarantee that you have the chance of an upgrade? How is a guarantee 8D different from a regular 8D? Is the very next step up an 11? THANK YOU!!!

So, you can get an 8D (8B or whatever) guarantee? I thought the guarantee was at the overall stateroom level, i.e. Inside, Outside, Balcony, Suite...not at the specific level (A, B, C, etc.).

You can get an anything gty.

That just means that you will get a Cat. 8D or Higher, it can go up to a Suite. Going 8D Guarantee is a good thing to do if you don't mind what Cabin you will be in. If you wanted a Specific Cabin, you need to let your T/A know.
