Dock or Tender

There will only be three ships in port the day we arrive (Fantasy, 1200 am, Ecstasy, 1200 am, and Enchantment of the Seas, 700 am). Will the Carnival ships get to dock at someone elses dock or will they have to tender?

They will dock... If I had to guess I would bet on the Punta Langosta pier.

Ken, im on the inspiration next month, and there will also just be 3 ships. I contacted carnival and they said we would be tendering. Then i emailed them back saying there will be only 2 other ships in port, but they still said we are "scheduled" to tender.

Should i expect to dock? I was thinking, it should be nothing preventing us from docking and i was really hoping we would dock at punta langosta. But carnival seems to have "tender" in their schedule.

Yes, there should be no reason why they would tender with an open berth, as with most cruise customer service reps they rarely know what they are talking about, other than to read a script. When will you be there?

Where is the International Pier in comparision to Punta Langosta? Is there an advantage of docking at one over the other?

We should be docking at International on RCCL's Explorer of the Seas and just wonder where we'll be. I don't see it on a map, but do see Punta Langosta.

Thanks for your help. We're planning to do some shopping downtown and would like to walk from the ship if possible.

International pier is a couple of miles south of the Punta Langosta pier, just a short cab ride.

Yes, if you dock at Punta Langosta then you are right there in town and can walk all over town without getting a taxi.

Wow, from the map it looks like there is quite a distance between the two. Thank you so much for the info. I guess we'll be taking a taxi to town.
