Deck Names on Pearl

:o Sorry in advance for the stupid question, but I've never been on a cruise before. How do you know the names of the different decks? I have seen references in different posts to the "Lido Deck" and the "Promenade Deck" on the Pearl, but I have not seen anything on the NCL web site that states that information. Just curious!

NCL doesn't use names for it's decks, too confusing......they just have deck numbers. I haven't heard much about the different names since the Love boat TV series.

Don't worry too much about finding your way around the ship, there should be a small pocket map in your cabin, and there are maps near every elevator on the ship.

They do use a few terms like AFT (back of the ship) Forward (front) Port (left) and Starboard (right). Maybe Pool deck......the deck that the pool is on.

The Promenade deck on every cruise ship is the deck below the lifeboats, usually deck we have the muster drills.

The Lido deick on every cruise ship is the deck with the swimming pools and the buffet restaurant near the top of the ship.

So its common for people to use these names for these decks.

Thanks for the info! I want to make sure I get my cruising lingo straight before I get on the ship. I am terrified that I might wind up calling the Pearl "a boat" (and other major gaffes) before the end of the cruise.:D

Here, you can study the Cruise Ship Dictionary and sound like an old sea hand when you're cruising!:D

:o Sorry in advance for the stupid question, quote]No such thing when knowledge is the result of it.

I just learned what Port, Starboard side, Lido and Promenade REALLY means. In turn, I will pass this information to my children for our next family cruise as this is an opportunity to learn something new.

Thanks for the posts! :)

:D I'm not even going to touch that one!

The poop deck is actually the aft mooring deck. :)

NCL uses in addition to numbers names such as:

Biscayne Deck, Atlantic Deck, Norway Deck, etc.

The S/S Norway had names for every deck.

That clears that mess up:D (sorry, couldn't resist!)

That is correct, however the Jewel and Pearl don't use formal deck names. But, the Crown, Sun, and others do use formal deck names. It just depends on the ship.:)
