wags111 Posted April 14, 2007 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2007 i have never bought any of the spray sunscreen. has anyone else used it? and how does it compare to the lotion? thanks, bored in tennessee waiting on my ship to leave
crusinmama06 Posted April 14, 2007 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2007 Yep I use it and I use it on my kids as well. It's easier to use than the creams. You do have to reapply it more often than a zinc block though. So if you have REALLY fair skin, you may want to stick with the cream
wags111 Posted April 14, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted April 14, 2007 thank you. my husband is fair so i guess i will get him the lotion
Chigirlcruzin Posted April 14, 2007 #4 Share Posted April 14, 2007 I'm quite fair, and I love the sprays. I use Banana Boat Ultra spray. Actually, I switched to a cream on my last cruise because it was working a little TOO well. I wanted to get some color LOL.
MrPete Posted April 14, 2007 #5 Share Posted April 14, 2007 Every cruise, I slop the 30 - 45+SPF on, while wife puts on the oils. I always come back darker than her, and she bitches about it. But I can tell, you she will do the same thing this year.
mommysews Posted April 14, 2007 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2007 I used it on my pale as a ghost children last summer and it worked great. No more trying to get a squirming child to hold still while you grease them up. I'm taking at least two cans on our Liberty cruise in May. I may never use the lotion again! Fancy_Goods Posted April 14, 2007 #7 Share Posted April 14, 2007 The spray sunscreen is awesome, especially the Banana Boat brand SPF 35. Works better than thier cream-type SPF 50 and it's so much easier to apply!
LovetheSea Posted April 14, 2007 #8 Share Posted April 14, 2007 My husband uses the spray. Be careful of drips. It makes a funny looking tan! :)
mountaingurl Posted April 14, 2007 #9 Share Posted April 14, 2007 We are very fair skinned. DD used it last summer and got a sunburn even though she used it. If you can find coppertone spectra, it is the best cream/lotion I have ever used. Years ago we put it on our 6 month old and went to theme park for 5 hours in the summer. She didn't even turn pink, it was great!
llynnp Posted April 14, 2007 #10 Share Posted April 14, 2007 I use Banana Boat Quick Dry Sport. You don't have to rub it in and it's not greasy. Great stuff!
Guest YesitDonna Posted April 14, 2007 #11 Share Posted April 14, 2007 the spray is good but the only drawback I found is you use more because the spray mist goes in more places then just on YOU lol Also be careful where you are spray as I was sprayed by the person next to me and i didn't really need a second coat LOL
nmyorkiemom Posted April 14, 2007 #12 Share Posted April 14, 2007 My VERY WHITE DH & DS use it and it seems to work well. They tend to go thru almost a bottle each time they both spray, though. But, they're 5'10 & 6' & cover their heads & every inch, so I guess it's not too bad. I buy it at Sam's & Costco in 2 pks for about $11.xx. For 7 Days I'll probably take along about 10 bottles & still have to buy more
crusinmama06 Posted April 14, 2007 #13 Share Posted April 14, 2007 I have to say though that my kids were still able to get tan even with the spray. I must need to reaply it more often. (I won't mention that I won't use it cause I like being tan and was blessed with Italian skin. ;) )
gumballz Posted April 14, 2007 #14 Share Posted April 14, 2007 I tend to burn easy, but I didn't burn at all on our last cruise. I used Coppertone Sport 30 spray. I just reapplied it often. I came home with nice color. Not as nice as my DD, who used oil.....but nice for me! :)
crusinmama06 Posted April 14, 2007 #15 Share Posted April 14, 2007 Not as nice as my DD, who used oil.....but nice for me! :) Oil???? Yeah even I'm not that crazy...lol. ;) :p
gumballz Posted April 14, 2007 #16 Share Posted April 14, 2007 Oil???? Yeah even I'm not that crazy...lol. ;) :p Tanning oil, not vegetable oil. lol Just in case you thought she was completely nuts! :p But yeah, she puts on that tanning oil and gets SO dark. Makes me look whiter, but what the heck. I'm still having fun!

Happy Cruising! Thanks :D "Henry" is the vacuum cleaner used on Royal Carribean ships. He looks like a little dude. You will see him in many avatars because of this thread in the floataway lounge...I've put Henry in all kinds of different situations. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=382773

kiffrig Posted April 14, 2007 #21 Share Posted April 14, 2007 CruisinMama- Ooops, I meant Carnival Liberty. I think I am supposed to look for his knock-off relatives, right? I was trying to read through the thread in the Floataway lounge about him. He's very handsome....I might be developing a crush, but don't tell my hubby. :D Hubby and I are celebrating our 10yr anniversary on the Liberty this summer and I would hate for hubby to feel as though I was cheating on him on our anniversary cruise. hehehehe
neatokimmo Posted April 14, 2007 #22 Share Posted April 14, 2007 Is it coppertone that has the white can with blue lettering? I used that for my last cruise, I hated it. It felt "hard" on my skin and it smelled like cheap hairspray.
kiffrig Posted April 14, 2007 #23 Share Posted April 14, 2007 Neatokimmo- Thanks for the heads up on that kind of spray. I'll be sure to stay away from that one this summer. We'll probably try Banana Boat like several people have mentioned. Happy Cruising!
Knights on the Beach Posted April 14, 2007 #24 Share Posted April 14, 2007 We use Australian Gold Spray Gel (only it's not really a gel -- looks like lotion) and have used it for several years. Works great, sprays on evenly, no problem for us. We're NOT really fair skinned either, though, but have never burned using it.

Nope, Coppertone is a blue can with white writing and a yellow & orange swish...like this: I never had a problem with it feeling hard and I always smelled like I was at the beach. :)
