spcl4cs_gal Posted August 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2004 Has anyone used this facility in the past? Is there a trainer on duty during the day or is it geared more for the experienced gym rats onboard? :)
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 7, 2004 :) All HAL ships have 1 or 2 European trained workers. They can design a program for you for a fee and they can monator your progress for a fee. They also direct the arobics and other pay for gym activites. :)
spcl4cs_gal Posted August 7, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted August 7, 2004 For a fee? Gee, just wanted to use the treadmill for 30 minutes a day. :(
Charliesmom Posted August 7, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 7, 2004 If you just want to use the treadmill for 30 minutes a day, why would you need a trainer? Roberta
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 7, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 7, 2004 :) The use of the equipment is free to all passengers over a certain age (fourteen I believe). The trainer will charge you if you use his/her time to monitor your level of achievement during your work-out. You also will be charged for any optional services or for the trainer to develop and monitor a program. :)
sail7seas Posted August 7, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 7, 2004 There is no fee to use any of the gym equipment. On our recent Maasdam cruise, I was in the gym at 6:30 many mornings and used the treadmill. There was no charge to use it as long as I wished. They had the usual sorts of machines but no ellipiticals. I was hoping there would be some but there were plenty of treadmills. I never had to wait to use one. MDL1771 Posted August 9, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 9, 2004 Can anyone tell me the hours that gym is open? Also, was there ever a time that it was busy. Thanks for the info
sail7seas Posted August 9, 2004 #8 Share Posted August 9, 2004 On Maasdam, it opened at 6:00 A.M. and closed about 9:00 P.M. I assume it is about the same on all of the ships.

sail7seas Posted August 9, 2004 #10 Share Posted August 9, 2004 When I got to the gym at 6:30 in the morning, I was surprised to find a fair number of people there. It was not mobbed and everyone who wanted a machine got what they wanted, but I had "plenty of company". I think on Zuiderdam you will find it even busier. Krazy Kruizers Posted August 9, 2004 #11 Share Posted August 9, 2004 :) Husband gets to the gym at 6 AM - sometimes I think he opens the gyms on some ships. There have been times on some cruises when there was a line up waiting for the door to be unlocked and everyone was making a bee-line for the treadmills. Sea days are the busiest. :)
sail7seas Posted August 9, 2004 #12 Share Posted August 9, 2004 I agree the treadmills are the most popular machines but I was able to get one everytime I went to the gym. I never had to wait for one to free up. Luckily; Happily :)
