Spirit Air from ORD to SJU?

Has anyone taken Spirit Air from ORD to SJU and had issues with making the connecting flight in FLL? at 10:50am. It is only a 47 min layover. I'm concerned with any delays missing the flight. The only other flight I see to SJU out of FLL on Spirit later that day is not until 9:30pm. I don't fell like spending my day at FLL when I could be in San Juan wondering around.

FLL has relatively small terminals so connecting will be easy. Also if the ORD-FLL flight is delayed, Sprit may hold the FLL-SJU flight if there are enough people making the transfer.

 

Since you're flying in the morning, chances for delays are routinely less than later in the day since most weather problems happen late in the day (i.e. thunderstorms) and the schedules haven't been mucked up too much yet since you are on some of the first flights of the day.

 

I'd feel pretty comfortable with this itinerary based on what I know.

Your connection time of 47 minutes exceeds the legal minimum connection time at Ft. Lauderdale, so, under normal circumstances you should have no problem. Naturally, however, there is some finite chance of missing your connecting flight. I have never seen any quantitative information on what the chances/probabilities might actually be. Would anybody have a link to such information?
