I see Terry has done a brief review but thought I could add a couple of things....I will say I know why Lisa loves this ship....the staff were the very best we have had and the food was very good....the only negative was portions my husband was a bit shocked with the size of one of his entree (eggplant and something)...it was smaller than the appetizer.... however, Irman our server was right there as my husband said something and immediately offered and went and ordered him another entree (I think he really ordered him a double).... our assistant server Dian was wonderful, he always remembered our name and would chat with us at breakfast or lunch in the Lido where he also worked....

Our cabin was an aft suite, I love the balcony size and will be sad when they do the redesign in the future...however, on this cruise I did not get to use it as often as normal as it was quite cool and winds at 25 knots... Ivan was our cabin steward he kept our room immaculate and manage to do it when we were gone...he found out we like bananas and grapes and brought us extra...what wonderful service!!!!

A number of people ask about the casino's...well we went a number of times...don't expect Vegas...however, we had a great time entered the slot tournament...(they have BJ and other tournaments too)...we played BJ and slots... my husband actually won 500 on a dollar slot and I won 300 on a penny slot (for those that don't know this was really a 2 cent machine and when you are playing max credits you are playing $2 a pull/push)... I was told that some lady won 2200 on one of the penny slots the day before I played... quite fun...but watch out very addicting... oh yes we may have won 800 but I guarantee you that we did not bring all that home...we won early in the cruise...so it help pay for alot of great entertainment...

The ports weren't important to us...R&R was, and we achieved that...

We appreciated the attention Mr Deering (or as the staff call him "Mr James") gave the cruise critic members...he was very kind to us. I was so impressed by how the staff spoke of him easily with such high regard...a true sign of a great adminstrator....

I appreciate getting the opportunity to meet the other cruise critics and most of all to sail on "Lisa's ship,"..... I can definitely see why she and her husband love it....we do too....

Happy Sailing....until next time... DB777 (Dora)

Welcome Home Dora:) I am so glad you loved the Oosterdam. As you and many have found out she is just such a special ship in so many ways. Not that I don't love the other DAM ships it is just that the Oosterdam has that extra special feel that her crew and Officers contribute to.

It sounds like you did quite well in the casino, good for you.

As for loosing the aft balcony size at least we have till 2009 to enjoy that great verandah, although the cabins inside will be exactly the same the outside deck will be a bit smaller but I think we will still prefer them over the midship S Suites.

Thanks for your review:)

Dora,

Nice to see that you filled in some of the blanks in my review of the O from last week.

I lost track of how many times I started and restarted to write my review. When I would read what I had written, I found that I was just going on and on about every positive experience we had while onboard.

Needless to say, we loved the ship and it was the finest cruise we have taken to this date. We are now waiting for the 2008 Alaska fares to be posted so we can get that cruise booked.

I will email you your CC Dam Wave photo when I get home tonight.

They have roulette, craps, carribean stud and I think Let it Ride and of course black jack....the first night they had $3 BJ tables...and I saw them a few other times...mostly $5....unsure of some of the minimums on the other games...

Thanks Terry I received all the pictures...and yes it was a great cruise... Dora
