Dog sledding tour - Skagway?

How good is this tour?

Of course sounds interesting, but any first hand experience with this? We're a 23 yrs old couple, so $500 USD per person is kinda a lot of money for us... and want to be really sure that it's amazing.

 

"Duration: Tour includes approximately 30 minutes of roundtrip flight time, approximately 30 minutes with the mushers at the dog camp located on the Juneau Icefield within the Tongass National Forest and approximately 30 minutes of dog sledding for a total time of 1 hour 30 minutes."

I have no experience with dog sledding excursions, as our first trip to Alaska is next month. However, if you can do it in Juneau rather than Skagway, you could save a bit of money: http://coastalhelicopters.com/t_dogsled.htm Coastal has been highly recommended by others on this board.

We booked through Temsco Helicopters in Skagway which is the same company Princess uses and saved $100. The tour consists of Dog Sledding & Glacier Flightseeing. We used Temsco in 2000 through NCL and it was the highlight of our cruise. We were able to book a whale watch excursion in Juneau because we booked Dog Sledding/Glacier Flightseeing in Skagway. We booked last year with Temsco also. This was the highlight of our cruise also. I mean.....how many times in your life will you say "I flew in a helicopter to a land on a glacier and then rode/drove dog sleds." Once in a lifetime experience we will never forget.....Loved it!
