Triumph Info

Recommended Posts

I was responding to an info request on the ROLL CALL Board and realized I had written a review and thought I would share for those looking for info on the Triumph. I am sailling her again (5th time) in October and am counting the days, as you can see in my signature.

I LOVE to cruise. Living in FL makes it easy and affordable. I have been known to call and jump on the 1st ship I can when I get too stressed out.

The Triumph is a great ship. Not the biggest out there but not the smallest either. My first cruise was on a 16 ton NCL and I was blown away with that. in a good way...but I have evolved

I haven't sailled on the Triumph since 10/2005, my first "singles cruise" weeks after my divorce; but that is a whole other story.

Navigation may be a problem for the first couple days. There are a couple decks that don't let you get from one end to the other. The aft restaurant can be tricky to find. Use the Promenade Deck as your safest bet to get from A to B. Thats the deck with all the indoor/nightlife activity. The Lido is where the pools are and the outdoor/casual dining activities and goes all the way through too. The spa is only accessible by one elevator. The aft restaurant is the same way...only 1 elevator to get to it.

GOOD NEWS: I hear we will have a sushi bar!!!!! If I remember right, they had an area right around the Java Cafe. Its serves during Happy Hour and is across the Promenade from the California Wine Bar. The California Wine Bar is my favorite. Don't let the name have you miss the fact they also serve the BEST martini's I have had ( & I have samples quite a few). No regular mixed drinks though...Wines & Martinis ONLY! I have seen tons of people give the bartender a hard time that they can't get a Jack & Coke!

The Dance Club is full of teens until about 11pm. Sometimes it goes way too Techno for me but I sometimes forget that 50th birthday anniversary thing...lol

The Bar by the Casino is also very cool. An entertainer playing all kinds of music every night and its the best spot for people watching....funny to watch the "herds" race for dinner...lol. I wait for the crowd to die down and leisurely, with cocktail in hand, make my way to the dining room.

I think the food is great. i have never said "yuk" to anything. Sometimes I have grabbed something (unidentifiable) from the buffet at lunch so I can try a new thing from The taste of the Nations theme and have not liked it but that is personalpreference not bad food.

Breakfast in the dining room is what I prefer. It is open seating so I get to meet new people at the table. I am not an early morning person so I would rather be "waited on" than "wait in line". That said, I have gone up for the buffet breakfast and found it fresh and appetising.

Lunch definitely on the Lido..choices...choices...choices! Salad bar is fresh and good variety. There is a carving station with something different each day; turkey, roast beef, ham and a variety of hot and cold items. Extra Bonus: The Deli; the best sandwiches in the world, made to order and yummy. Hong Kong Noodle Factory (I think) serves excellent Oriental dishes that change daily. There is also a Grill for burgers, hot dogs, chicken or steak sandwiches. Pizza is across from that and is available 24 hrs. Its great pizza and they also make a fantastic Chicken Caeser.

Dinner: I do not know why anyone would not go to the dining room for dinner (other than tooooo many drinks or exhaustion after a long port day). Food and service have always been great...sometimes better than others but never enough to complain. I will give you some of my dinner faves: Pumpkin Soup (sounds weird..its free...what do you have to lose), Essence of Japan ( a mix of a whole bunch of great stuff, lobster, filet, etc). That is on Lobster night, I recemmend getting both!! Lobster, if not with Essence, i get 2 they are small, Chataubriane (sp), Peppercorn NY Strip, Salmon, Jerk Pork.

One more REAL

Entertainment: It is what you want it to be. In to the "Party" mode? Deck Parties all day by the main pool. Not? Aft deck above the aft pool & hot tub....not a sound but the wake and thats a great view anyway, on occassion you will see dolphins or flying fish.

At night I start at the Wine Bar for a pre dinner martini head to the Casino bar and wait for the action to pick up in the Piano Bar, Dance Club or the bar at the very aft of the ship(cant remember the name). That aft bar has a great rock band but hardly ever is packed...thats one I can't figure out. I hear the other bar does kareoke every night.

The BONUS Bar on this ship is the bar at the aft pool. It is outside and directly acroos from the Pizza. This bar gives last call at 4:30am so when you have hit the end of the night at all the bars on the Promendae...just crawl to the Lido for a night cap an pizza. Best late night munchie known to man... lol:D

The shows are great. Don't miss the 2 Big production shows they are so good. The R rated comedy is always a hoot.

I guess that really just turned into a review but I hope it helps.

I would be happy to answer and other questions.

Look forward to seeing everyone!!!
