Need help with planning St Thomas Visit

Hello,

 

Trying to plan day in St. Thomas!!

 

For anyone that's been there, done that, does this scenario make sense?

 

1.Arrive to do Sky Tram at around 9:30am

2.Take taxi to Sapphire Beach

3.Take taxi back to Charlotte Amalie for lunch and shopping

4.Back to ship at end of visit

 

 

I guess my specific questions would be "Does this order make sense based on beach, town, sky tram and/or ship location?" I am trying not to have to go back to the ship during the day so I kept shopping for last so I wouldn't have to even consider bringing our purchases to the beach..but with the cost of taxis do you think there is a better/cheaper way to go about it (NOT INTERESTED IN TOURS)...even if it means stopping back at ship?
