Should we do this port on our own?

Take a taxi to Majahaul for sure. It is only about a 5 minute ride and cost $3. Relax on the beutiful beach, (the one at the port is rocky) get a beach side massage (they are wonderful), get a bite to eat (very tasty and resonable) you can always head back to the port in time to look around and enjoy that area for a little while depending on how long your ship is in port. But don't miss the wonderful relaxing beaches in Mahaul.

You'll kick yourself if you don't go to Majahual. It's so beautiful, don't miss it!

I agree, it was a great stop for us. I'm so glad our family went and didn't waste our time at the cruise port facilities. For use, part of the benefit of a cruise is going someplace "foreign", the buildings at the port of Costa Maya are too much like a strip mall compared to the town of Mahahual.

Do you think we should just go right for a taxi to Maj? would we request a certain beach? are there any beaches that have kayaks for use? is this port kinda like progresso? are there any certian shopping tips anyone has??? has anyone taken a snorkel trip from Maj?

thanks!!
