If you cannot get the same cabin for both weeks, you will move from one cabin to another on the turnaround day. It has been my experience that you do not have to pack all your stuff. The stewards will help you move and will usually have hanging racks for the hanging clothes.

I'll find out next October during the first ever CC back to back group cruise :D From what I understand from our TA... when it comes time to pay the rest of the deposit, we will choose our cabins... and make sure we have the same cabin for both legs... since we are booked so far out, that shouldn't be a problem... I wouldn't do it without having the same cabin for both cruises!!!!

I've done it, and would do it again any time. Actually, I've already booked another B2B for Dec 07. It's easy. I like longer cruises, so a B2B works for me. They are best when the ships are alternating directions of travel from week to week. It's like a 14 day cruise. I managed to have the same cabin for both weeks, which makes it even easier. Even if you have to change cabins, it's still easy. They help get your stuff to the next cabin if needed, and like the other poster said, they can help with hanging clothes too. If you are able to stay in the same cabin, your stewards will already know you well from the first week, and that makes things work out well, especially if you took care of them (tips) on the first leg of the trip. I had a different dining room table assignment each week. I was traveling solo on this cruise since DW was taking care of her mother at the time.

 

You will get instructions telling you where and when to meet one of the pursers staff on the turnaround day. We (about 7 of us) met in the small lounge area just outside the mid-ship dining room. They had juices, coffee, etc, and some pastries set up for us while waiting. We met in the lounge about 10AM or so. When it comes time (after all the passengers are off of the ship), the staff person leads you off of the ship. You go to where the immigration officer is, show your passport, and they lead you back on the ship. On the way back on the ship, you get your new sign and sail cards for the next leg of the trip. Next, you have to go to the desk to set up your shipboard account for the next week, then you are all done. It all took less than an hour, probably closer to 30 minutes. Then, you can roam around the ship, go to the lido for lunch, watch the new folks arriving, or just relax.

 

The Chief Purser sent a plate of nice chocolate dipped strawberries to the cabin as a thank you to the back to back cruisers. That was nice.

it sounded so great that we now have not one, but two booked - Valor E/W, and Splendor Med/TA. 28 days - 12 sea days. :D And remember, when you do B2B rather than one longer cruise, you get 2 lobster nights, 2 Captain's cocktail parties, 2 past guest parties...

I did B2B on the Conquest in Feb. Loved it!

Liked it so much that me and my partner are doing B2B in December (on the Conquest again)

In Feb, I was alone the first week and a girlfriend joined me for week 2. I booked the second week about a mont before the cruise. The first of the B2B I booked about a week before it set sail. So I wasn't able to get the same cabin.

Basically, the night before the first week ended, I packed my stuff. Explained to my steward that I was doing B2B in separate cabins and he had someone move my stuff for me.

I was able to roam the ship all day with the exception of having to get off, be escorted through customs and then back to the ship til others started boarding.

I dunno if I'll be able to handle just ONE cruise at a time anymore after doing B2B lol.

Ronath - Yes - Carnival Valor E & W out of Miami. Left on 4/29/07 and again on 5/6/07. Great cruise. Great ship too. CD not bad either (Chris Jefferson). I'm currently working on my ship and cruise pics. It will be a while before I finish and get them posted on my web page.
