Denim, not jeans, in dining room

Is any denim considered jeans and unaccepatable in the dining room? I have a denim pant suit I thought I might wear to dinner on one of the "smart casual" nights of our October cruise. (Zippered jacket and pants). After reading the prior posts I'm not sure now. I have worn this particular outfit to work and felt it was not out of place. I would appreciate any advice.:)

There is a cruise fashion board on CC but in general you should be ok, it isn't a matter of actual compostion of materials so much as the "look" in general. If you make an effort to be more "smart" than "casual" you should be just fine!!

LAC2 - Wouldn't worry a minute about denim pantsuit - should be just fine. Hope you have a wonderful cruise. Donia

I also have a denim pantsuit and have worn it many times in the smart casual dining nights. You will be just fine.

I have a denim dress I wear to the dining room and have never had a problem. It's actually reversible so I wear it several times! You'll be fine in a denim pantsuit. Just not for formal night. :)
