For those who say they'll never sail Carnival again:

Cold water issue with the toilet and shower. There was almost none. You needed to toss an ice buckets worth of water into the toilet and the shower was too hot.Problem was going to be fixed in a few days as this was the last sailing before drydock. They were even preparing for drydock on this sailing by removing trim panels ect.

Yes, that is bad.....but like I said it could happen on any ship/any line. If it happened to me, I would be very annoyed. Would I go back on that same ship, if everything else was fine and that was the only bad thing? Yes I would. Now if everything really was horrible then no.....but one thing wrong, then I would go back.

Sorry your cruise didn't turn out the way you wanted.

It was really no problem at all. Not only did we get the nice room.We also got a $50 credit, drink coupons, photo credit and Chocolate covered strawberries.:D

I am just thankfull that I could walk or threaten to and not really cost myself much money. I also did wonder whether insurance would have covered anything such as the prepaid parking?

Ok...so it seems that you were nicely compensated. :D

Just curious - then why are you reading and posting on the carnival threads?

Personally, I am happy with Carnival's overall product. I will not say never again on Carnival because sometimes the deals are too good to pass up.

But I am a ship lover. One thing that will eventually cause me to give them up is their interior design. They really need to give up those dark, gaudy colors. The ships are just ugly. Picky? Yes. But that's my opinion, and to me it's important.

I think you would like the Miracle.....not really gaudy at all....well except for maybe the dining room, but I liked the dining room. It reminded me of being in an italian vineyard in Tuscany. :p:D

That's your opinion, but there are many who would disagree, including professional critics. Once you "expand your horizons" beyond 2 day cruises and Carnival, you will see that there are many ships out there that are quite stunning. I don't really care about decor one way or another, but to those that care about such things, Carnival generally leans toward gaudy, fun themes as opposed to tasteful and refined.

I have to agree.

I have been on NCL. RCL, Celebrity, And Carnival.

Carnival has the most over the top decor of any of them. In fact my DD was appalled at the decor on the Legend. She much prefers the more understated elegant look of the other lines. Celebrity is beautiful. Carnival is ... well, a carnival.

That said we are all going the Miracle in Oct. Decor is one thing and doesn't make or break a cruise for US. Other people know what is important to them. If decor is an issue maybe a different line is in order.

In many different threads people talk about the ambiance of the cruise. If that is the most important to you go for it. I loved all my cruises and had mega problems on all of them, you know what, life happens. Most issues were resolved in one way or another.

I agree with everyone on this thread, always on Carnival, Never on Carnival, Sometimes on Carnival, whatever, cos it's their vacation dollar and they have a right to spend it any way they choose and for whatever reason they have made the choice.

both on the Holiday and both entirely different experiences but both great cruises. First one was with my best friend and we ate i the dining room every night, (our waiter and his assitant were fantastic and we oved their singing after dinner each night - had lots of fun joining the congo line one of the nights...lol), we went to play bingo, went to the Captain's party twice since three were scheduled so when our 8:00pm dinner time got there, were we feeling a bit buzzed...lol, we went to the talent show and the game shows etc. second cruise i went with my sis-in-law and we only are in the dining room once and did none of the other activities. i spent alot of time sitting on deck watching the gulf go by and playing video poker in the casino. both different cruise experiences, both fantastic. we didn't get as many towel animals the second cruise and there were a few other things that didn't go as well or as fast as the first cruise but i don't even remember them so obviously, they weren't bad enough to "ruin" the cruise. just being on a ship and going to a different country and having the chance to see mayan ruins and to de-stress was what it was all about. i plan on going out of new orleans at some point since i live near baton rouge but going out of mobile was very doable. i believe it's all what you make it. i don't think i'd want to bring my older teenagers or my grandchildren but the kids on the ship didn't bother me at all. i just don't want to have to keep up with them...lol
