Question about Cabins on Majesty

Recommended Posts

Hope someone can be of help to me. My DH and myself are planning a cruise to Bermuda in September '08 out of Philadelphia. I understand that the Majesty is having 5 cruises from Philly in Sept. We usually cruise on the Zenith, but alas, that is no more. We love Bermuda and have been there 13 times. Anyway, I only have the brochure to guide me in my selection of cabins. I am thinking that I would like the 6th. deck since that is central on the ship. My question concerns categories. I like the C and also the FF (outside oceanview). The C cabin denotes that it can accommodate a third person. Since there will only be two of us, would we be able to book this for two? The reason I like that cagegory is that it seems larger than the double occupancy ones in the FF category. Does anyone know if this is so? I think I read on here that most of the cabins are 145 sq ft, which is smaller than the Zenith, but I am sure I could adjust nicely as long as there is plenty of closet/drawer space (?). Also, they are right behind the casino and I don't know if the smoke aroma would be a problem. I like the idea of a cabin refrigerator, which has not been available to us. Has anyone been on the 6th. deck and what would be your recommendation?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I figure I had better book soon since it appears there will not be too many ships going to Bermuda next year.

PS - One more thing - it seems like NCL is quite informal. How many optional formal nights are there on the Majesty and do many people dress up (the Zenith was quite formal for a ship in that category so we are used to dressing).?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Deck 6 is fine...as long as you're not on top of the casino, but cat C is the only room you're looking at that is 145 sq. feet. Cat. FF is oceanview & 108 sq feet! TINY.

The superior Oceanview (which cat. C is) also include a fridge which is a nice ammenity.

We booked a GTY and ended up in the regular oceanview once and vowed never again. There were only 2 of us as well, but you couldn't unpack all of your clothes and we spent the week tripping over one another trying to get ready for dinner.

I strongly recommend that you book the superior oceanview (and yes, you can book 3 & 4 occupany rooms w/ just two people).

As to the optional formal night, there is one, and it's Monday (if you sail on Sunday). I'd say probably 50% of the ship really dressed up (some people may disagree with me, but that's been our experience). It seems to be less and less every year, but you'll feel comfortable whether you dress up or not. NCL is definitely not "quite formal" and I would recommend leaving the tux at home (DH now has abandoned suits all together in favor of khaki's and collared shirts).

Feel free to ask any other questions. Many of us have sailed the Majesty multiple times. She's older and smaller, but with a quiet charm (and it's really all about Bermuda, isn't it?).

There are only two cabin sizes on the Majesty, with or without a window: 108 sq. ft. and 145 sq. ft. You probably want the larger one. Both have the same tiny bathroom. Of course you can get an AB but the price jump is pretty big, and I think it's 265 sq. ft. It does come with Concierge but like I said the money difference is pretty big. Use this tool to plug in Majesty and a cabin number to get details and see if it has an obstructed view (if you have an oceanview):

Thank you so much for the site you posted for the cabins. I did not realize that you could do this and this will certainly save a lot of hassle. I definitely will try to book a Cat C since I do want the extra room. One more thing - can you fit the modern type luggage under the bed, or do we need to bring older "flat" suitcases. As much as we loved the Zenith, we could not bring our newer suitcases if we wanted to put them underneath.

Thanks again for your help and also to everyone else who provided me with information.

See you in Bermuda!
