RCCL Gift Certificates/Onboard Credit

Recommended Posts

If we buy a gift certificate and use that towards our onboard credit, would that be sufficient for not having to worry about registering a credit card/cash when we get to the ship?

That's a good question! I'd like to know the answer to that also.

One more question for the gift certificate / onboard credit experts:

Can gift certificates be used for shore excursions, booked prior to cruise or onboard?

Can you bring gift certificates with you to check-in for onboard credit or does this have to be taken care of ahead of time?

I don't think that gift certificates can be used to book excursions prior to sailing, and NO you cannot take the certificates with you and have them applied, they have to be applied to the reservation at least 10 days prior to sailing. here is the link http://www.royalcaribbean.com/giftcatalog/landing.do;jsessionid=0000Jut8UzWyTXgEyrLOqjv57aw:10ktdmpjo?pagename=gifts_and_gear&cS=NAVBAR

With regard to not having to put cash or a credit card down when boarding, I would imagine that you can select to pay by cash, you do not have to give a deposit, and then during the cruise, if you find the OBC getting low, then just go to the Pursers desk and add more cash. on the last night, if you still have funds available, go to the casino and draw cash against your seapass to bring the account balance to zero.

These gift certificates are a great way to save for onboard purchases, I buy one everynow and then and immediatly apply it to my reservation for OBC, getting onboard knowing that your seapass bill is prepaid is a great feeling!!:D
