The laundry and dry cleaning costs are cheaper then at home. Yes there are drink stations in the Windjammer with lemonade and such. And all you had to do was take the pool towels provided in your room to the beach.

IMO NOTHING sucked on the Explorer.

Hmm. I'm afraid I don't get it. :o

As Sue pointed out, there are drink stations with lemonade and iced tea, and you are provided with beach towels. They're in your room waiting for you when you board, and you can get them replaced with clean ones as needed.

It's true that Royal Caribbean doesn't have laundry facilities like some lines do. Did you not know that? It's on the RCI website . . . I guess if it were me, and I thought that not having laundry facilities would ruin my vacation, I probably would have checked into that first.

I also wish RCCL would provide guest laundries. It's nice to go home with clean clothes. With four people the laundry service gets really expensive. I don't mind at all doing a load of clothes at night or while at the pool. Pleas don't think I'm bashing RCCL. We love their ships and are platinum members.

I am talking about CONVIENCE. All these things are provided on Disney and Carnival at no charge. Only these things suck. Becides that the cruise is FANTASTIC. :) :)

The pool towels and drinks are FREE, the laundry has costs but on Carnival you had to put change in for the washers and sometimes twice for the dryers, so they were not free either. And what is convenient about having to do your own laundry. I would rather leave it with the steward go have a good time and have it show up back in my room all nice and clean.

Also just look at Disney site the laundry isn't free there either, this is from their website

Is there laundry service?

Onboard laundry and dry-cleaning services (with stateroom pickup) are available for a charge. There is also a self-service Guest Laundry Room with coin-operated washers and dryers, along with detergent and ironing equipment. For safety reasons, the provided irons or steamers may be used in the laundry room only; personal irons cannot be brought aboard.

Well you caught my attention with this thread! LOL! :D

1. You received pool towels in your cabin to use at the pool OR take to the beach. You can exchange them for others at the pool or your cabin attendant would do it for you. NO CHARGE!

2. Drinks such as ice tea, lemonade, fruit punch are set out on trays for you to take PLUS they are served to you by waiters in Windjammer and these drinks plus coffee and tea are free and also available in the Cafe 24/7 and 24/7 room service and dining room or as some would say included in the price of your cruise! NO CHARGE!

3. As for the laundry, the dry cleaning is definitely less money than we pay at home in the NY/NJ/PA. area. Carnival/Disney charges for use of laundry so it is NOT free and it is NOT free on the Explorer either! Bring more clothes and don't worry about it is my suggestion. :D NO CHARGE!

Good to hear you thought the rest was fantastic! :D

I can only think of two things that might have sucked on the Explorer.

One is the wait for Windjammer to open because we boarded so fast.

Second one would be the wait for the elevator at times. Oh but that sucks on any ship

Oh and it sucked to get off.

I have to agree on the drink thing...It seems silly but it was one of the things that did bug me about the ship. On Carnival, I believe they even had drink stations near the pool. I liked running up and getting my little plastic mug of iced tea. I like my drinks with a LOT of ice. The iced tea and Windjammer barely had any. I mostly just stuck to the water in my room where I could put as much ice in as I liked. :) It wouldn't exactly stop me from going on Royal Caribbean in the future, but it was something that Carnival had that I wish they did...So I do know where this person is coming from...

I have to say that after reading this post I have to wonder if you're just trolling for trouble? Could you really not see the towels I am certain were in your cabin or not remember the coins you had to put into machines on other ships? I think not.

I think there are things we would all like to see different about any ship we sail on, but we come back again and again because there is so much more that we love about being on them.

I am sure that there are things that RCCL doesn't do as well as some other lines, and there are things other lines don't do nearly as well as RCCL. :)

All in all, you pick the line that suits you the best. If the things you mentioned bother you enough that it outweighs all the good points, then perhaps you would be happier back on a Carnival or Disney ship?

The thing that bothers me most about any ship is GETTING OFF when it's time to come home. LOL

there is no petting zoo.

no water skiing or para sailing of the stern.

no skeet shooting.

no drinks at the top of the rock wall ( but there is a photographer)

no lobster / crab bar in the Wind Jammer.

you can't roller blade in the casino

otherwise it's a perfect Ship, and I can't wait till nov to get back on her.

I think it's funny that the poster can't complain about RCCL I didn't like that it took 30 minutes to get cokes from our soda card. Everything about RCCL isn't perfect and I think it is ok to vent here. We like RCCL and certainly this won't stop us from cruising! I wish there were coin operated laundry machines too!

LOL!:D I don't know how I ever survive without these things but somehow I seem to manage! LOL! :D

The OP can complain about RCCL all they want and you are right, this is the place to vent but it didn't make sense to complain about those 3 things as you can take towels to the beach, there is plenty of drinks available and the two cruiselines the OP mentioned charges for laundry use/service too.:)

We always get the soda cards and we've never had a problem getting a soda right away onboard with the exception of the last time in the dining room but that had nothing to do with the card as other people at my table did not get their drinks right away either. Sorry you waited so long for your cokes. I would not be happy either if I had to wait 30 minutes everytime I asked for a coke!

As for laundry, there is no way I'd ever do any on vacation but I can understand how some would want to especially if you had kids, however the one thing that I think of when someone mentions having a laundry room on a Voyager/Freedom class ship is how we would all be reading on the boards about washing machine and dryer hogs on a ship with approxmately 3400 plus passengers onboard! Someone mentioned doing a load of wash while they were at the pool! LOL!:D I can just hear the complaints now......... how people leave their laundry in the washers/dryers too long and how long should you wait before you dump their stuff out and put your laundry in? Talk about complaints! That's all we would read! :D

LOL Does that mean you are popping popcorn right about now? :)

We all need a hobbey.

It's sure better than moving the kids rooms around. Our project de jour.

No ship is perfect, and no cruise is perfect. The folks that think they're prefect are the ones who can either look the other way, or turn lemons into lemonade. Lemonade tastes good!

and it's free in the Windjammer.

Runduckzoom. :p

There is an easy solution to your ice issue, ask for a glass of ice. I always get a glass of ice with my ice tea whether I am on a cruise or at a restaurant near home.

1. Wash your shorts in the bathroom sink.

2. Walk a few steps to the WJ (or cafe promenade) to the drink station.

3. Sign your name for a towel.

4. Smile more often.
