will work to cruise Posted July 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2007 We will be sailing on the Mariner Western and are wondering how to go about getting our DD's passports stamped at our destinations. Is there a place at the piers/docks to get them stamped?

vesw01 Posted July 10, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 10, 2007 It is my understanding that you can leave them with the pursers desk and when they agents come on boards to clear the ship they will stamp the passports for customs - can anyone cofirm that? hcocchi Posted July 10, 2007 #6 Share Posted July 10, 2007 We had to find the customs office on the dock. Just ask the security people after you get off the ship or ask at the purser's desk where it is located. In St Thomas it was a small building right along the dock and there was a sign on the door. Make sure they have already cleared the ship because the office is locked until they get off the ship. We had it done by the purser when we were on NCL Spirit, but we haven't found any RCCL ships that will do it that way yet. Good Luck.
PVDCruiser Posted July 10, 2007 #7 Share Posted July 10, 2007 Good idea - I've always been disappointed that my passport wasn't stamped on cruises, so I'll try this next year.
Karshrimp Posted July 11, 2007 #8 Share Posted July 11, 2007 I have heard of the purser's desk idea, and am going to try that on my next cruise. Last January when we docked in Jamaica, there were 2 female officals standing behind the counter at Immigrations. When I asked to get my passport stamped, one of them replied "If I do it for you, I'll have to do it for everyone". This was after the ship was docked for quite some time, and the crowd surge had already gone by. She did it anyways, but she wasn't very nice about it. So yes, I will be trying the Purser's desk next time...:D
CookieMonster Posted July 11, 2007 #9 Share Posted July 11, 2007 I have just started collecting stamps on our last 3 or so cruises. What I have found is that the agents that come on board the ship NEVER have stampers. Since they don't seem to be required, they simply don't bring them. But don't let that discourage you. All you need to ask for is the local customs office. As was posted above, the St Thomas is an easy find, right next to the pier. St. Maarten is a bit more challenging, but you can score two stamps. In St. Maarten customs is not near the pier, but in the cities. If you go to Marigot, drop by the ferry, it goes to the other islands, and has a customs agent, else he will be in a police station just down the road. As for Philipsburg, I have completely blanked on where we went... But just ask for customs and someone should be able to help you, else you can always go to the airport, a sight in itself! http://images.google.com/images?um=1&tab=wi&hl=en&q=%20St.%20Maarten%20airport If visiting Bermuda, when docked in Hamilton all you do is get out on the main street, turn right and walk a couple blocks to the government house where customs will give you a stamp. If you really want stamps, go get them, if you rely on the pursers desk to ask the customs agents who come onboard you are risking not getting them, that and finding them is half the fun. Good luck and happy hunting. Brian
