My free cruise was spring break of 2018 on short notice. They gave me the best available cabin which was IB category (Getaway 11411), and I got the perks that were being promoted at the time.

Thanks for the information.

i have a question, if you reserve an inside cabin with certin perks. do they just transfer to the balcony you bought with points.

Yes  but you only get inside cabin perks because that is what you booked. You do not get any of the perks as if you booked a Balcony.

I never wait. Grab it while the program still allows it and cabin choice is better. 60,000 points is not doing any good where its at.  If they cancel, they will refund them.

They have already messed with the program 2 months ago. Whats next????

They shut us back to back cruisers down. We used to be able to use points for one meta upgrade for both cruises, now they are treating back to back as 2 cruises now requiring twice the points.

The upgrade is within the same category.  They have made more categories so its almost impossible. Just like Aft balcony is now its own category.

So inside up to a higher inside, same with ocean view and balcony. That's it. No higher than a standard balcony.

Does that mean that you can't upgrade from a balcony or mini suite to an aft cabin?  We were planning on using 10,000 points to upgrade to an aft cabin on a panama canal cruise.

Thanks Clay,

These points are becoming useless you do a double meta upgrade with 60,000 points.

Not sure I agree but I haven’t tried to use mine except for that.  It was certainly worthwhile when we did it.

Sorry if this is already addressed.  I used points to get OBC on an upcoming cruise that was ultimately cancelled.  Will I automatically get my points back or do I need to call somebody?  If the latter, who do I talk to?

Call NCL and ask for world points,

Latest update on doing upgrades on Prima sailings. Yesterday 6/10 I attempted to do a double meta upgrade and it failed. The rep told me IT had sent an email out saying it had been fixed. Rep told me they would put in an expedited ticket and that they would call me back. We will see.

I tried too a few weeks back on the 14 night sailing.  I ended up getting a good enough deal on a balcony that I decided to save the points as the cost of inside to balcony and outside to balcony was less than $1000 total for 2 people. I did book the 1st day and half hour it opened up.

I have enough points to get an OBC of $250. Can I use my OBC to purchase $500 worth of cruise next certificates?

Technically you would be able to get away with that as it's added/debited in your folio.

There have been some changes to point usage and I would not bank on it. I would purchase it and then check folio to be sure. You can return cruise next certs by end of cruise.

I had points for a double meta upgrade.

some of which expired in December.

I tried to see if they would extend them because Covid did not allow them to be used, would have booked a cruise before if Covid did not happen, but no dice. Even went up the chain as I was in disbelief.

Cashed all the points out, even the ones not expiring for statement credit and then cancelled the card the following month.

Even though it is really BOA policy not NCL, that probably did it for me for NCL.  Giving MSC a try in December in the brand new Seashore.

Thank you so much to everyone that has posted their experience with using the NCL MasterCard and World Points redemption process.

I usually book all my cruises thru CAS and get my cruises comped. I've been wanting to do a Hawaiian cruise but the casino does not book with Pride of America because there is no casino onboard. I figured this would be a great cruise to use some of my World Points on. I was able to book an OC cabin on deck 4 in April 2022 for $5,375 and upgrade to a BC cabin on deck 11 worth $7,415. Using 30,000 of my points I received an upgrade valued at $2,040. I think that is better then me using the points for $300 in OBC. 😃
