rhnielsen Posted July 10, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2007 My family and I will be in Bermuda on August 5th (Sunday). Does anyone know if you can rent a moped at King's Wharf? We booked mopeds online but they are in Hamilton and not sure I want to make the trip. Any advice would be much appreciated. alexkrn46 Posted July 11, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 11, 2007 There is a rental place right off the dock. The cruise ship will advise you not to rent one, but we did with many other people.
Sue L Posted July 11, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 11, 2007 It was right there and even though the compass advised against it I was sorry we didn't as they looked like so much fun. Whole families rented them and beat us all the beach and we were the first bus.

signman Posted July 11, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 11, 2007 Make sure your insurance is paid up, and is good in Bermuda.

Merion_Mom Posted July 11, 2007 #8 Share Posted July 11, 2007 I hate to be a pest. (ok, no I don't, but........) PLEASE re-think this idea of renting mopeds in Bermuda. The streets are not wide, are windy, and they drive on "the wrong side" of the road. There are so many injuries each year to tourists renting mopeds in foreign lands. My daughter, for instance, just rented one in Sicily:
LibraChick Posted July 11, 2007 #9 Share Posted July 11, 2007 I have been to Bermuda 7 times and I have always rented a scooter....Yes the roads are small and windy but they are well worth it....You can rent a moped or scooter at Kings Wharf...Just obey the rules of the road and stay to the right and you wil be fine.... rhnielsen Posted July 11, 2007 Author #10 Share Posted July 11, 2007 Mom; Thanks for the heads-up. Others have offered the same advice. I spent some time in England so am familiar with the "Other side" concept, but I appreciate the concern and will give it additional thought. I may just go off to Crystal Caves or some such place instead. Bob

zebra36 Posted July 11, 2007 #12 Share Posted July 11, 2007 ??? Wouldn't that end up being a very short trip?? Theron How true, and possibly very painful. Reminds me of the time I rented a scooter there and on leaving the beach I forgot where I should have been roadwise and had to ditch the scooter in a sand bank, fortunately no harm done. Kind of makes the point! Theron
