mrcruzer Posted July 28, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2007 Hi there, looking into the 8-night Eastern Carib Liberty cruise next feb, and have a few questions. I have sailed Royal caribbean and Princess once each. On the deck plans for Liberty, it shows a "fish and chip "stand," is this still there? If so, how is the fish and chips there? Is ice cream available 24 hours a day, and is there a cost? where is it purchased? Do the pool areas feel truly crowded? Is the aft pool (solarium) adults only? How late are the pools open (into the night) What kind of activities are there to do onboard for teens? is pizza available 24 hours a day? Thanks in advance, MC. PaulMedik Posted July 28, 2007 #6 Share Posted July 28, 2007 Thank you so much, you've been a big help! Alrighty, any takers? solarium open to only adults? No, it's not adults only. 24 hour ice cream and pizza are located there so it's not really an option to be adults only.
nybumpkin Posted July 28, 2007 #7 Share Posted July 28, 2007 How old are the teens? Club O2 is for teens ages 15-17; they have activities scheduled throughout the day, or if the teens just want to hang out there's a dedicated teen area on deck 5 next to the arcade. sunlover5 Posted July 28, 2007 #8 Share Posted July 28, 2007 We also had only sailed RC and Carnival Liberty was our first cruise with carnival and we did the Eastern. You will love it!! We did!!! The pool was just as crowded to us as the RC AOS cruise we took last Feb. We are sailing the Liberty again this March and can't wait. We love that ship! By the way at the Fish and Chips they have calamari and some other things. I got fish and chips but they also had a dish where you got calamari, fish, and something else with the fries!! EXCELLENT!! Enjoy!!
mrcruzer Posted July 28, 2007 Author #9 Share Posted July 28, 2007 A, good point about the location of the pizzeria and ice cream. Good to hear about the solarium. Is there any sun-loungers on the deck above the aft pool surrounding it? The teens will be 14 and 17. However, they rarely participated in the activities on Princes...too "boring" Can anyone confirm if there are ping pong tables onboard? Mini golf? Hearing nothing but good stuff about the fish and chip stand-good to hear!:D MC.
molme Posted July 28, 2007 #10 Share Posted July 28, 2007 If you are looking at the Feb 2 sailing it is close to being sold out. There is a roll call for this sailing if you look under roll calls. We have been booked on this sailing since Mar. There are no suites or balconies available.
mrcruzer Posted July 28, 2007 Author #11 Share Posted July 28, 2007 That is in fact, the sailing we're looking at. However, we've been exploring the option of oceanview cabins.
*IslandHopper* Posted July 29, 2007 #12 Share Posted July 29, 2007 Fish and Chips? Wow, I"m a first time cruiser on carnival too and I can tell we're going to have a great time. Thanks for this thread!
mrcruzer Posted July 29, 2007 Author #13 Share Posted July 29, 2007 I think it was perhaps one of the better Ideas i came up with:D A couple more questions, this time for the youth in our travelling group: is there ping pong tables onboard? if so, where, and does anyone have a picture? on the deck plans it shows a "video arcade" off the main promenade. Can anyone describe it and possibly show any pics? Thanks again! MC.
jleq Posted July 29, 2007 #14 Share Posted July 29, 2007 Arcade uses tokens. A given S&S can only purchase a limited amount daily...so your teenager can't "run up" a $500 daily bill playing video games. mrcruzer Posted July 29, 2007 Author #15 Share Posted July 29, 2007 Ah, definitely understandble. (and needed!) I wonder why I couldn't find that photo on webshots earlier...searched every phrase possibility I could think of... Ping pong, anyone?
jleq Posted July 29, 2007 #16 Share Posted July 29, 2007 Ping pong, anyone? {FYI: I'm 99 percent positive the answer is "yes". I've seen them on every other CCL cruise. Just never looked while I was on Liberty]

nybumpkin Posted July 29, 2007 #20 Share Posted July 29, 2007 Here's the link to the Club O2 activities list from our Liberty cruise: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=540638&highlight=Liberty+Club. My son thought some of the activities were "lame," but he liked others. About the only time we saw him was for dinner and shore excursions. mrcruzer Posted July 29, 2007 Author #21 Share Posted July 29, 2007 Thank you very much everyone, I'm pretty sure this is solidifying Carnival as the first choice for the planned cruise. Will let you know if anything develops! Thanks once again, MC.
